Sonny,

I looked but could not find certain specs on your tank.

Is the glass 3/4" thick or what?

I ask because I am in the process of building a tank and the glass shop isn't sure if they should use 1/2" or 3/4". They said they could make it with 1/2" thick glass and temper it to make it stronger. The 3/4" starfire glass has to be special ordered and the price jumps through the roof.

Thanks!

Hey sonny , ive joined the party! ( no haiku this time though about your light bulb selection )

You should probably include your nitrates and phosphate levels as well as your feeding schedule for your fish and corals

I read this in one of Sunny's earlier posts"

"It may not even be red slime. Its look less slimy and more like velvet or something."

I'm getting the same thing on the LR. Again, I'm dosing 1.6ml of Vodka and 2 drops of MB7 daily. Any advice?

Is it green or red? I dont see how the addition of MB7/vodka could possibly be growing green hair algae, unless you are dosing AA's or feeding too much.

I would assume 1/2" glass is used all around on Sunny's tank... 1/2" glass all around (non tempered) should be fine for a tank that is 20" tall, if you added a tank frame to the top and bottom you could even use 3/8" all around, but 1/2" is what you would use if you are going rimless...

Hello, my tank is 1/2" glass but it is only 20" high so that may factor into the equation.

Sunny, have you noticed your substrate harderning due to the excess bacteria? I think this is the case for me at the moment... Calk and Alk levels are fine at the moment...

Hello, if the bacteria grows rapidly in your system it can and will clump and slightly harden your sand. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Forget the kickbacks, what you need is a product sponsorship.

In all seriousness, I'm surprised that some manufactures wouldn't want to do this. Some RC members and their Tank OCD *thats a good thing* show that they're not fickle reefers. Their tank could be used as a picture of with our products claim. Not entirely true, but could help boost sales.

So what do you say Shawn, Sunny is waiting for his salt and additive sponsorship!:D

It's a deep red, kind of maroon in color. Maybe I'm feeding too much because I'm not dosing AA. I stopped the vodka for about a week and just started it up again today at have the dose recommended for a 150g tank. I increased the MB7 to 5 drops/day.

Yeah, if I owned a reef company I would sponsor some good reefers. It would be by far the cheapest method of advertisement and promotion. But then again, if you are getting supplied free supplies you may feel tempted to say that the product is good, even though it isn't.

Personally, even if I was getting a product for free I wouldn't be using it if it didn't get the results I was after.

Lets see if any companies bite and decide to sponsor my reef. :D

Hello,

I would stop the vodka completely and continue dosing the MB7. I have had the same velvet stuff appear when my vodka dosing got out of hand. It may take a couple weeks for it to go away but its nothing to worry about. ;)

Sunny,
Are you still using ReefBooster? I havn't read every post in your thread in the last few months, but have not seen you talk about it at all lately...?
