I say do the anemone. The only reason I say do it is because you did not keep any in your last tank and you are trying something new. By the way I love the looks of your new tank so far. All of my largest SPS pieces came from your last tank probaly a year and a half ago. I would love to see your new tank in person when you get it setup. The only reason I have an inwall now is because I fell in love with your last tank after seeing it.

There are a lot of reefers that have anemones in there reef. I personally would never do it again. For the most part they will find a spot and stay if the conditions are to their liking. But it is a fact that when an SPS tank matures the need for extra flow is required. This often leads to disrupting the anemones original hosting spot causing it to move, and more times than none they leave a path of destruction or end up in one of your powerheads. I know some reefers cater to their anemone but I find it too hard cater to both SPS and LPS let alone adding an anemone to the mix.
 
Thanks for the support and feedback on the anemones. I just got back from Toronto and the the tank is in house! :D

Thanks Jr. I do plan on putting in LPS this time around along with SPS. I like Acan's, and if I can find some small frags at a good price then I will be putting them into my tank. I know you have a great collection of them so I may be paying you a visit. ;)
 
Although I am happy that the tank is here I am not looking forward to plumbing it today. I'm not much of a plumber and need to figure out the best way to plumb the Ehiem 1260 to the tank. The pump has an output of 3/4" while the hole for the return is 1". Ohh, and I plan on using spaflex if I can find it at my local home depot or lowes.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. :D

Yea, im THAT bad at plumbing :D:confused: :eek1:

The pump has a barb fitting over the output so would I run a rubber hose to the union and then plumb the pvc?
 
I'll link some pics when I get home, because I'm on my blackberry now. The union should screw onto the outlet of the eheim then the pvc will fit right on there. I don't like relying on hose clamps.

Thanks for the link. Lots of nice things there. Maybe I can find the union for the Ehiem here.
 
The other issue is using foam under the tank or not. I was going to be putting foam under the tank but from what I have heard it is not good to put foam over plywood under a tank, it must be one or the other. If you are wanting both foam and plywood under your tank than you must only put foam around the edges of the tank.

The floor is slightly off level so anything to help keep the tank level would be great.
 
Home Cheapot should have the adapter you're looking for. It's a 3/4" male pipe thread x 1" slip piece. I used these on my tank, but would only recommend them if the Eheim is going to be in the sump. They can potentially leak if you run them outside of the sump.
 
Good choice on the ehiem 1260. When all my other pumps freeze up due to calcium buildup (including my tunze streams) the ehiem just keeps going. As a matter of fact I cleaned it for the first time in 2 1/2 years the other day for the heck of it. I don't know what they do to those pumps but there is nothing else in the industry that can match their quality. Super quiet as well.

Can't wait to see the new tank.

Thank you for clearing that up. Do I screw that adapter in the Ehiem?

And yes, the pump will be used in the sump.

i would get a 3/4" slip to 1' slip or thread depending on how your plumbing it and use a short section of flexible 3/4" tubing to connect the eheim to the adapter with a couple hose clamps on there

i wish i was at home i have this exact setup on my tank and could take pictures for you.
