+2. It seems to me that most would say your tanks have better coloration than zeo tanks. Add in the cost of zeo and you get a grand total of why bother. Save some cash for other things. Your tank looks marvelous just keep doing what you are doing and grow it out.

Why bother switching to Zeovit? You are having great success with your current method, the tank looks awesome, and it's cheaper.

The magical rocks have always intrigued me. :D :p

I like pushing my system to the limit in terms of coloration so I sometimes try out new things.

I am still reading up on ZEO so I an not 100% sure yet. Worst case, I will end up with a hybrid of ZEO additives/vodka. :D

Wow Sonny,

impressive, inspirational, fantastic.....

how many adjectives would I need to describe your tank? Well, theres not enough time and space!

You've inspired me to go do a water change!

Have you considered Brightwell's magic rocks?

You're begining to sound like Marion Barry

  Marion Barry......I dont sound that bad do I?

I use the BWA AA, Microbacter7, and Vodka. I also add 5 drops of Lugol's a week for about 8 years now. The Lugol's Really helps bring out my blues.

Some people say that Lugol's is a waste but for 8 years I have had very colorful and healthy corals. :p

I have to squeeze that last 2% of potential out of the corals. ;)

I am working on something special for my next system and need to experiment as much as possible on this one.

Oh, and I ended up keeping the Vortech MP20. I worked out a deal with the seller and we are good to go. :D

Ok, have to go now. Lots of people coming to pick up frags. I literally sold out in less then 20 minutes. I feel like the band U2.....

Well, the Vortech MP20 is coming out. I had traded a couple Tunze 6045's and some cash for the Vortech but the person I traded with wasn't too happy with the Tunzes. So, I did the right thing and offered to trade him back. Oh well, ill just get an MP40W in a couple months.

But, on a brighter note I picked up some amazing Jumbo Aussie Dendro's yesterday. Within 10 minutes in my tank they were fully extended and eating. One of the heads is about 3" fully open! These are probably the coolest corals I have picked up in a long time. The Dendro's come from www.Cherrycorals.com stock. As with everything from there these corals are unique and look great!

Anyone have any general care tips on them? Things I should look out for?

Ill have a few pics of them this afternoon.

Sonny
Dendros like sun corals, need to be target fed otherwise they will just wither and die! :S

Sonny,
You seriously have a great tank with vodka/mb7. As a matter of fact, I am following in your footsteps for my upcoming 3 footer so please do not go to somewhere I cannot follow. Especially like that of the "magical rocks"! :S so +1 to all the guys who are against the move to zeo :P

1.8ml of vodka?! man! tell me what power vodka you are using? Like I mentioned earlier, my friend doses 6ml of of Absolut Vodka but still see no improvement in corals' colorations! haha :X

Anyway, Sonny, great tank and dendros! If you are in Singapore, I will say your frags last less than 1 minute on the racks! :D and you won't be U2 anymore! More like Linkin Park or better! :D

Happy Reefing! :D

Sunnyx, i hope you don't mind me posting a couple pic of my t5 only tank. It's my old 90 gal and i'm using TEK 6 T5's. As I told you earlier i'm in the process of building a new tank. It will be 48X24X20H rimless with 3 sides starphyer. It should be ready July 1st. After deliberating for months, I decided to go with giessman infinity 2x 150W and 4 T5's so i can control colors using T5's and get shimmer. I believe this will be more than enough light for tank that shallow. Anyhow, here's a few pics of my corals.

I had started using T5's back in 2006 even though many here thought they couldn't work. I had to go to Europe and see their tanks and that's what made me go that way. I do love T5's but will now try a pair of 150W HQI and adjust colors with the 4T5's the rest of the way. I will be leaving the T5's only club, but I do know that they work great!

you should do well. Your old tank looked great. The only thing hurting it was how narrow it was. I can't wait to see your next attempt!

Thanks CeeGee! I'm just trying to keep up with the jones, I mean Sunnyx! LOL. Sunnyx is the reason I have to go to my wife and explain why i need a wider tank! Sunnyx tank has been a inspiration to me getting my new tank. I was going to get all T5 again but decided to try MH since I've never had them. I want to see what all the rage of shimmer is all about.

I'm waiting to see what the Aquatinics Constellation looks like with the middle bulb replaced with LEDs. Then you can have Sunny's lights with a little shimmer ;)

Be sure to try Radiums 150 DE's if you like blue.

Hello :D

Well, after the multitude of emails and PM's I will not be changing things up. ;)

When dosing vodka, everyone's system will react differently. Some systems need more, and some less. I think I use less because of my over sized skimmer and bacterial additions.

I am loving the Dendro's so far and am feeding them Spectrum brand large pellets along with Formula One flake food daily.

I have always enjoyed the coloration in your setup and am looking forward to what you will be doing next. If there is anything I can do to help please let me know. :)

Not sure what you plan on using for bulbs but check this list out for
HERE some numbers and ranges.

Hello, nice tank you got there. How often do you do a water change? how much water do you drain and replace? What salt brand do you like most?

Hello and thank you. :D

I do the following:

-30gl(18%) water changes once a month.
-I have been using Reef Crystals form many years now with great results.

I used to do small water changes weekly but my system is clean to a point that the less water changes I do the better. The only reason I do water changes now is to replenish any lost elements and minerals.

The bacteria and carbon source(VODKA, VSV,etc.), are the key to my systems cleanliness and health.

Hey Sonny - Wasn't sure if your earlier reference to "not changing things" was referring to zeo or not. I was curious to hear your reasons for considering zeo given the balance of success you've had thus far and the complication of running zeo.
