Sonny - You're running the I-Tech 100 right? Do you happen to recall off hand the footprint of your skimmer and whether there is any wiggle room based on the configuration of the pump? I can't find a good picture of the skimmer to see what sticks out from where? Trying to see if I can get it into a 6 3/4" x 15" space or if I'm going to have to cut down one of my baffels to get it in there.

Fab pictures BTW !!!!

The skimmer in the picture above is actually a Deltec Ap851. Does the I-Tech 100 look similar?

No the I-Tech is a cone skimmer. Check them out they look very promising and much cheaper than the ATB's (and American made by a LFS owner). I will be getting one soon. Emster is the TOTM that is running the I-Tech and his tank is :eek2:

Well, The only time I turn the RO/DI on is when I am home and I make sure to set a reminder on my Blackberry to turn it off after two hours. I have been doing water additions like this for about 8 years now but I should look into an ATO as you never know what can happen.

Anyone here have pictures of their ATO setups?

Tunze osmolator and a 10 gallon tank, put them on your shopping list NOW!

Will do! :D

Sonny thats the same setup i use for 3 years non stop with no issues. The optical eye and the tunze brain set this one apart from the rest, if you ever upgrade to a non recirculating skimmer a constant water level in the sump will be necessary.

Sonny, Awesome pics and tank..
on the first page you mentioned that you dose 70ml of 2 part each day, is this the same amount you are dosing now? what about Magnesium? How much per day?

Good question DML.
Do you ever get all of the Magnesium to dissolve? I still havent found a way to get it to dissolve even with hot/ warm water.

Cant answer for sunny but since we both use the two part system I can tell you how I does mine. What I did was take 1g container and added 600ml of mag then I filled the rest up with RO/DI water. For my dose i just used the same setting for my alk/cal. I am currently dosing 180ml of each. As for how I dissolve my mag, I mix then in different containers and then mix them in a 5g container once they have dissolved. Hope that help any one.

Mchava have you noticed that your colors are better from dosing 2-part? Also how often do you dose the 2 part?

One thing I didn't like about two part is the fact its not as stable as a calcium reactor. Its stable day to day but the tank isn't constantly being fed ca/alk like a calcium reactor.

I have noticed that the nicest tanks are all using the balling method now. Im wondering if its the higher PH that makes the colors better?

magnesium doesn't really have to be dosed daily, the usage should be much less... I have a 3 channel doser and think I'm going to use the 3rd channel to dose a carbon source rather than Mg.

sunny, i just got back from viewing a local tank builder's work and i must say i'm extreemly impressed. i will be putting in the order for the 48x24x20h, 3sides starfire with polished and beveled edges tank within a day or two. I will also order the ATI 8x 54 and oceanic tech stand tomorrow am. I can't believe I waited this long to decide but it looks as if i'm finally going to do it. I already have a bubble king mini 200 skimmer, ca reactor, and custom sump,a pair of programmable Tunze 6100's, 4korellia 4's (i'll upgrade those later), custom build kalk reactor with a custom built ATO, and a 3 channel aquadoser that i'm currently using and will use that on the new system. I already got someone lined up to buy my exsisting tech 90 and he's willing to wait until i transfer all my stuff over. I guess that was the writing on the wall! Can't wait to start building the system. I'm like a kid on xmas day!! I will start my own post and not interfere with your post anymore but just wanted to let you know what you're responsible for since you went rimless! I told the wife to blame YOU!!:D :D. btw the tank will take like 3 weeks to be completed so i will wait untel then to start posting:D

has anyone ever used these as an ato with kalk??? I just ordered one

they sell a calcium dispenser designed to dose kalk using the osmolator without running it through the pump and causing premature failure... works pretty good except the check valve but those are cheap and easy to replace.

Actually I found that its much more stable then a ca reactor. I have a LM3 which cuts all the dosage by 12 so its dosing a little every 2hrs. Colors are richer also I noticed that the corals seem to grow some what faster then when I had my ca reactor.
