curious if anyone else has this camera, and if so, how their shots have come out using it. So far it seems to me that the focal point for the macro mode is a bit far away for some cool shots Im still learning this whole camera thing, but id really like to get good at macro shots!

Looks like the minimum focus distance is 6cm- that's not bad but it's probably with the lens at full wide angle. I think that camera will do decent macros but it's not designed with that in mind specifically. Regardless, practice and good technique will lead to a leap in quality

thats for the confidence gregr.......... im still working at it (probably taken over 300 pics so far) but its a slow learning curve in my opinon
