on the new
Steinhart Aquarium"
Bart Shepherd will be speaking on the construction project for the new Steinhart Aquarium. He will focus on the development of their new 180,000 gallon Philippine coral reef exhibit. This tank will be the largest of it's kind in our hemisphere, and at 25 feet deep, the deepest one in the world.
They have been prototyping lighting and life-support systems at their temporary museum in order to refine the techniques and technology for maintaining such a monstrous exhibit. They have also built a coral farm and have obtained more than 1000 fragments from fellow zoos and aquariums, as well as private hobbyists, so that they can stock their exhibit in a sustainable manner.
