We're happy to announce a special event to brighten up your winter. On Jan. 31, we will be holding a joint winter frag event with That Fish Place in Lancaster, PA. That Fish Place has generously agreed to share their pond room with us for this event. They will be inviting many of their vendors to attend, and we are expecting to have a raffle to which those vendors will donate, more demos than usual, and of course frag trading and selling. For food, we are currently hoping that we will be linking up with the Humane Society of Lancaster County, who will be selling food to benefit their group. Admission will be inexpensive, likely $5 for NCPARS members and $10 for nonmembers; we are also planning that TFP will be offering store discounts to anyone who attends the event.

We will post more details as we have them worked out with That Fish Place/That Pet Place. We don't usually have any winter events, and we are hoping that this will attract some new members and vendors, and provide a really different venue for us.

I got my TFP Holiday Season flyer in the mail today. There is an advertisement on it for the swap in Jan. Great way to get the word out. Should be an awesome swap.

They've got the pond room in total disarray right now, I can't wait to see what they do to it..hopfully it's finished before you guys get there. I need to get back into this club again, the empty tank kills me everytime I walk past it!

Fizz is correct, the pond room looks like a bomb went off at the moment. No worries, we are making some changes to the fish room, they will be complete before the January event. We will have a nice big area for the frag swap. We are still waiting on responses from some of the vendors who have been invited to attend, as soon as we have a complete list of what we plan on having at the show we will make some announcements to get the word out.

We are looking forward to the swap, I think that it will be a fun event. I will post updates in early december once we have some more of the details worked out.

Dave

Awesome Dave, thanks for chiming in,we are all looking foward to the swap and it will be a great way to beat the winter dull-drums.

I don't understand why there would be a charge at all for this event. Weren't the fees to cover the rental of the site? Since I'm pretty sure TFP isn't charging the club, wouldn't it be better to keep the event free for 'buyers' and maybe make a nominal table fee for 'sellers'?

NCPARS is a non profit society and the fees charged are used to fund frag swaps, public aquarium feild trips, educate the public about coral reefs and conservation thru school aquarium programs etc....TFP is a sponsor of NCPARS and because of that they donate various things to the club.We use the fees and profits to fund these events for our members. The BOD volunteers there time and resources for the sole purpose of providing these things. If we did not charge for the events we would not be able to provide this service.

Fizz,
Most of our "normal" restrictions will apply. The coupon can not be applied to other sale offers, as well as aquariums, stands, reptile habitats, dog food, cat food, or frontline and advantage products. Most everything else will be fair game for use. The coupon will be good for use the day of the event only.

Our vendors have come through with some nice items for raffle, as well as several presentations to add to Anthony Calfo and Steven Pro. We have had some late additions, so we will compile all the information and get it out in the next couple days.

Thanks,
Dave

Any restrictions on that 20% off? I have some pretty high ticket items I'm looking buy.
Keeping what Dave said in mind for the restrictions, just as an example of high ticket items, I've used a 30% off Wacky Wednesday coupon that came with a TFP flyer applied it to this this. The coupon could only be applied to one item I think, but that little piece of paper ended up being worth a couple hundred bucks.

I was a little on the fence about coming to the swap, mostly because my tank needs more flow before I can really get serious about adding frags, but with the speakers, raffles and coupon, that stuff seems to sell the event even without the main event considered :)

Same here...I really wasn't ready to get back into the club yet since my tank is still dry, but I need hardware that I can only afford pieces of at a time. I can't resist this event so I'll start getting back into things again, maybe it will motivate me to get the tank up and running sooner. I really miss it and the tub of rock in my basement just doesn't cut it. :)

But Kevin you can always arrange your tub of rock to your hearts content right now! ;)

I've gotten some preliminary information from TFP about some of the vendors that will be there, some of the raffle items, and talk topics, and I'll be posting that over the next few days. As a teaser... I saw an EcoTech Vortech pump on the raffle donation list... along with lighting, filters, and more...
