Special Winter Frag Event with That Fish Place: Jan. 31, 11 AM-4 PM

This was an amazing turnout!!!

I didn't buy anything but it is always so much fun meeting all the new people getting into the hobby. The amount of younger people getting into the hobby with the help of their parents is so nice to see.

Thanks to the BOD and TFP!

Carl

Great turnout. I bought 2 frogspawn frags and lps coral. The tank drilling was really cool. I would like to give that a try. Good speakers.
Anyone post any photos of the event? You tube?

Fantastic turnout, Loved meeting everyone. Had a blast and Im sure everyone else did as well. Huge turnout. At one point in the beginning I couldnt move around, and it was about 100º from all of the people in there.

This was truly a wonderful event. Thanks to all who had a hand in it. My only recommendation would be to keep the vendors out of the event area and have them out in front of their shelf space in the aisles of the store. This would provide much needed room for the event. This is where they are located at the annual Aniversary Sale, and it works out great.
Ricky, I enjoyed the fragging workshop, and those big clippers looked more like bull neutering clamps!:D I got one of your calaustrea frags and it opened up nicely when placed in my tank. I also discovered I like the putty to attach frags much more than glue. It's so much easier!
Thanks Again To All Involved, And See You In The Spring,

Joe

we had a great time as usual but the drive home was depressing knowing that i had to be at work by 8pm and that i couldn't unwrap my presents myself, but i have a well trained little reefer with her own tank.

Hands down, The best swap meet I've been too.Bought lots of frags, all made it home well & are all open & looking great.Especially the hammer's.The events & speakers were very enjoyable to watch.Good info.
Thanks to all.

Glad everyone enjoyed the swap.

All the people who worked behind the scenes to make this a successful swap - Scott, Dan, Ricky, Mary, Carl, Don, Dave and the TFP folks - (If I did forget any names it is not intentional.. just my memory) - WELL DONE and Thanks for all your hard work.

It was nice to see some new faces volunteering to help, and I hope we can continue to see more people willing to get involved. This is what really makes for successful events.

See you all at the PSU swap in April.

sanjay.

My first NCPARS swap was awesome. I can't wait till the next one! Thanks to who all made it happen.

I missed a bit of the fragging demo. I was sitting too far back. What putty are you talking about? Just like the 2 part epoxy putty stuff?

Any brand better than an other? I've had mixed results with various makers. Sometimes I get a nice hold, but other times I can't get it to stick.

I use the Two little fishes epoxy.it works much better then most for me.using it in conjunction with some super glue makes it work better in some instances, acting like an accelerator.

I also use TLF 2 part epoxy. I mix until it gets warm in the hand. Then I know I only have a few seconds before it gets to hard to work with then it holds better. When using frag plugs; I use superglue on the bottom of the plug, then the epoxy and then add superglue to the bottom of the epoxy and it seems to hold better on Coraline covered live rock than just epoxy alone.

I try to "cure" my frag plugs prior to using them so many of them are covered in coraline as well which is why I use the superglue on either side of the epoxy.

Nice swap. More sapce would have bene a plus, but it looked like the turnout was good for the store and the reefers. Thanks guys!

Thanks for everyone's comments, it was a fun time. I'm keeping track of suggestions/ideas in case we can do this again next year, so please feel free to email or PM me with thoughts.

Cotter: You can use either something like superglue gel, or the 2 part epoxies. At PSU we use the D-D epoxy (not aquastik) because you can work it/mold it around the corals better. It also doesn't get hot, which some do, and which can potentially kill the corals. It's not really sticky, it definitely has to be molded.
