Species classification changed again

We all know they took out the weslso classifications a couple years ago and named them all trachyphyllia geoffroyi and radiata. Recently they changed symphyllia wilsoni to australophyllia wilsoni, but the change to the lords makes the most sense. The class is now micromussa lordhowensis or aka micro lords.

I agree.

Micromussa, always has that "miniature Ancanthastrea lordhowensis" look. However, A. lordhowensis has no resemblance to any of the other Ancanthastreas in the respective genus.

Darn, I liked the micro look of the old micromussa polyps. I guess I can ask sellers if they have micro-micromussa? haha.

Gotta love taxonomy!

Liked the look? Explain, the coral is not extinct or renamed? Its just that the lordhowensis has been appropriately moved to the micromussa class.

Sorry, caffeine hasn't kicked in yet today. You're saying what we've been calling Acanthastrea lordhowensis is now classified as Micromussa lordhowensis? And all the other Acanthastrea sp. are still Acanthastrea?

Thanks.

Yes sir.

It's now micromussa sp. for the smaller polyps we've known, and micromussa lordhowensis for the larger polyps.
