spotbreast angel fish swimming odd

Hi all,

Got this beautiful female on Saturday and she was doing some flashing and had a single pimple above her gills but otherwise looked healthy. Continuing to monitor she seems to have issues with swimming. I'm no Vet but it looks as if her buoyancy is out of wack, and she has to work to stay down/in place. Does this look like a swim bladder issue? Or not so easy to tell? If so I'm also not sure how to treat it

She's been eating like a champ since we got her and the only 'treatment' we've done was a 3 min freshwater bath to rule out flukes.

I received one a while back that was doing the same thing, head almost always pointing down at an angle. She never really ate for me and didn't make it. After that I saw some at a LFS and they all swam in the same manner, head pointing downward, so I think that's normal for them. Maybe someone who has had them for a longer period will chime in.

So if she stops swimming does she float upward? I can't tell from the video really. Almost looks like she sees her reflection that could be causing her to act that way. If not its a swim bladder issue more than likely or bloat from being constipated. You could try antibiotics or some other med like NFG.

Well, she looks fine to me but she doesn't like her environment. The reflection on the tank bottom freaks some fish out. Some of them can get decompression injuries too so watch out for that. Mine didn't swim with its head at an angle in the display. She was a bold and fast swimmer, and she was pig that ate everything. Hopefully I can get another one someday.

She does appear to swim a lot more normal while eating. I can try and grab a vid of that next time and upload it From the first feeding, I've had no issues with getting her to eat. I love it when that happens with a fish, lol

Put some construction paper or similar on the the bottom outside of the tank so she can't see her reflection anymore

Hmm, I don't think i'd be able to do that now without draining the tank.

We're keeping an eye on diver's den for a butterfly, bannerfish, or monocle bream. If one shows up we'll buy her a friend and see if that helps
