Spring Birds

I had a bird feeder up too. Until it got taken down.....

It was about 12 feet off the ground. he climbed up the tree and actually flipped over the branch to get it down! The rope wasn't even broken.

My friends hummingbird feeder at his cottage is also a magnet for bears... there are claw marks all up the side of the cottage where he hangs the feeder. They take it down now when they are not around (the bears tend to stay away while they are staying there).

lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

I have three feeders up right now, and have a couple of different hummingbirds coming to them, but nothing in swarms or droves. Maybe sometime soon though as we move into July. I've also put up and oriole feeder, and have seen a couple more orioles, but no feeder action.

My current excitement is a family of screech owls in our backyard trees nightly for about a week. There are two parents, and four fledglings. Noisy but cute little things. The adults start their trilling as dusk approaches. Difficult to get quality pics as they come out of their perches to begin hunting right at dusk, but entertaining to hear them and see the silhouettes of their parents swooping around catching insects and then feeding the young.

i love screech owls. we have lots of them out here, rarely see them but hear them every night.

what sort of oriole feeder are you using? put out a little dish of grape jelly. once they find it, they will be back all day long. i have fledgling orioles sitting on shepherds rods being fed mouthfuls of jelly.

how's that bird flying, he has no wings!! OMG, a wingless hummingbird :).

Where'd you see him Jesse?

Very nice shots Louis, love the eagle and that last chickadee!

Great hummingbird shot Jesse - she's looking right at you! +1 to Nina, what is the last bird you posted? Looks like it is in a nice dogwood.

Nina, where did you get that hummingbird feeder? Also, do you use red nectar or sugar water?
