Spring Swap Location Ideas

Hey Guys,

I've started calling around to all of the local conference centers for quotes for this spring's swap, but if any of you have a church/school basement that would work (and probably be a lot cheaper and allow us to bring in our own food/beverages) I think it would be great to support another local organization instead of a large out of state hotel chain.

If you've got something, please send me any of the contact info in a PM or to my email account,

See you all on the 3rd Friday!!!!

Bumping a few more times before the 1st meeting to get as many quotes/ideas as possible.

Church Basements are coming in as the cheapest, if anyone has a church with great parking and maybe a kitchen, please let me know

Since our move to the Columbus area, still no tank set up though (working on it) I really like CORA's idea of a back to basic swap, I remember being at that swap Salty Critter held in there store to be and it was a great time, the economy is tuff every where and getting vendors to comit, let alone getting donations for a raffle is going to be tuff, my 2 cents would be to see how CORA's swap goes down here and then make plans for a Cleveland swap

Those swaps don't bring in the money though/ We use the profits from the BIG SWAP IN CLEVELAND to help pay for the year.

check you local Knights of Columbus groups too ,,,, plenty of parking and and space at most of them

Hi,

Hope I am not stating the obvious but make sure it's easy to get to. People will be coming from different parts of the state & having it close to the interstates helps pull in the people. If you are interested in northern Summit county let me know, I have a couple of ideas.

When we all last discussed, the highest priorities were to keep it close to the freeway, sufficient parking and enough electric. I believe in the past parking has been an issue as well as sufficient electrical service.

I do like the idea of the old school swaps which might makes sense down the road in addition to our main one. However, given the revenue it generates for the club, I don't think it makes sense to touch the format. Our hopes were to possibly save a few bucks on the venue to maximize things. However, in the end, priority one is to make sure it fits our needs.

All are welcome here Andy ,,,,,lol
glad to see Jennifer is working hard on getting a new site , that place last year was to crowded, to damn stuffy. I would be willing to pay a few bucks more for a ticket just to get a bigger place this year ...

A "few bucks" is translating to about a $1200 for a nice hotel ballroom (but it does include tables/chairs and decent power) And we can't bring our own food.

Thats a bummer about the the food . it will be kinda tuff to find "the place" that will let you bring food in , be big enough to have the swap and avoid a electric meltdown,,, something will pop up for the club to use for the swap . if you have to up the cost for the ticket to get a bigger nicer place , so be it. i dont think it will effect the turn out that very much ,,might hear a few grumblings about the cost , but they must understand its for C-Sea to fund events and other club doings for the year and for a kick *** swap meet too boot ....

"If you build it ,, they will come"

In case you want to come out west:

NORTHGATE COMMUNITY PARK
is located off Colorado Avenue on Eaton Drive in central Avon. There are a multitude of activities offered at the park including an outdoor fitness track, playground, fishing pond, sled riding hill and outdoor skating rink during the winter months, sand volleyball and green space for play. Additionally, this facility offers the Avon Community Center which is available for rental for enclosed/indoor needs. The phone number for rental is (440) 937-6106. This park encompasses roughly 24 acres.

Checked those two out, but they are actually smaller than where we've been :( I also tried Westlake/Strongsville/Middleburg Heights and North Olmsted. LAME

Check your local county fairgrounds too , I know Lorain County Fairground has big indoor buildings they rent for 4H gatherings, parties, wedding receptions as well ,,,big too . In Medina county they have several big buildings they have the Medina County gun shows in the fairgrounds. and there sure is no lack of parking at either place . might be worth a try ,,,,,,,, Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds would be real central to everyone in Northeast Ohio , and for the CORA floks
