Springeri Damsels from Aqua Touch for flatworms?

Aqua Touch had some springeri damsels so I picked up a couple hoping they will take care of my little planeria flatworm outbreak. Has anybody else picked some up for the same purpose? I haven't seen them picking on the rocks yet, it's only been a day, but i'm hoping these are the right springeri's.

I got one from aqua touch a while back for the same purpose. At first it worked, the flatworms all disappeared for awhile but now he/she just ignores them.

Did it get agressive? If they don't get the flatworms, that's fine, but if I can't add new fish then I'll be unhappy.

I picked up a Springeri from Discount Aquarium about a year/year and a half ago for $8. It did a wonderful job of ridding my 46g tank of red planaria. I never saw a single flatworm after he was finished. He was completely docile in my tank with a pair of ocellaris, yellow watchman goby, royal gramma, etc.

Did it start picking on the FW's right away? I've had mine a little over a week and have not seen them touch the rocks. I'm wondering if aquatouch had the right springeri's as I've read there are 2 species that get labeled as springeri's.

I can't say for certain how quickly he went after the flatworms, it was some time ago. I believe it was relatively quick though. I have also heard there are two fish labeled as springeri. Mine was dark blue with a decent amount of black/dark scales.

I bought a pair of Azure Damsels and they did a great job of getting rid of my red planaria flat worms. And they are pretty mild.

what are you feeding the tank and how often, with what other fishload? give us more info :) i would expect, for example, the damsels will probably ignore planaria if it's an anthias tank that gets fed 3-4 times a day with mixed meaty frozen foods.

When I first got them I fed them mysis 2x a day. They are in with a pair of percula's. I've been on vacation for the past week, so they've been on an auto feeder with formula 2 pellets 1x a day. I'm hoping they started on the FW's while I was gone, I shall see on Friday.

I have flatworms too & was thinking about ordering a velvet nudi. Any experience with them or know where I could buy one locally. I have a big tank & a major infestation so I doubt that it would be in any danger of starving.

I hear pretty typical nudibranch-problems with BVNs, mainly getting sucked into intakes or 'disappearing.' Even with a foam cover, a nudi will never get away from an MP10 if they get too close.

That said, I've purchased one at Reef Culture before. I'm sure Jorrell at Club Reef would be happy to hunt one down for you too (he's always getting 'rarer' inverts)

It's a closed loop system so I am less concerned about that. It wouldn't be absolutely impossible to end up in the sump where there are power heads but it would certainly be taking the scenic route to get there.

Well just got back from a 7 day vacation and I don't see red spots on my rocks or glass. Looks like they're doing their job.
