SPS Changing Colors

Awesome! I will cut it down to just potassium for now than. Amino's I was only doing once a week but I can cut back on it I get good polyp extension regardless. It's good to know they can change colors more than once. I really appreciate the info!

do you have a potassium test kit? if not get one, I like red sea kit. you can overdose potassium as well so keep it around 380 400, one more thing use coral vitalizer a couple times/week once you are stable. back to potassium I like kz auto elements for potassium start with half the recommended amount and test. if you cant stay around 380 add another square. remember to skim a bit wet until you are stable ,then you can figure out how much potassium your skimmer is sucking out. good luck zsu

Sweet! I did some checking with a local reefer too. Checked his settings he is getting really good coloration on all of his SPS does almost no water changes and does no dosing at all. The major difference was the intensity he was running his AI's at. So I am slowly increasing to the same schedule he had. I will grab a potassium kit and start testing as well.

So at least for my tank, I have a definitive answer. I have not been dosing anything at all, just increased the lighting output from my AI Hydra 26 HD. And my German Blue Digi that was turning neon green. Now has electric blue polyps, and my other SPS have started to show signs of better color as well. My Bubble Gum Digi is getting green tips, and is BRIGHT pink now. Also my Cali Tort is starting to turn darker blue, and my fire and ice's polyps are changing back to bright white. So all in all, this appears to have been an issue with lighting and not water parameters.

Obviously the answer is to really like green and brag how your setup makes green POP like no other!

Joking.

I would guess more lighting, slowly ramped up over time, will get the colors you want.

Good to know the lighting solved the issue. As a hydra HD user, I will have to keep this in mind if I start seeing a green shift in color.

I wonder if naturally green SPS are less light demanding than red/blue varieties then?

lmao, I guess that's a way to see the positive right? :)

First off GBR, can't wait for the season to start. Love my Huskers. Secondly, I think they are, I had to amp the light up a lot to get those pink's and reds to start showing more.
