SPS Food

I have a lot of SPS at this point and I have mostly been feeding the frozen rotifer cubes. What is a real good food for SPS for both growth and color. I have seen a lot about Coral Frenzy and I know a person or two that swears by Reef Chili but I can not find much on whether it is more for LPS then SPS. Any help?

I don't feed my sps, mine grow like the clappers on fish poop and piddle :uzi:

I feed oyster eggs. There was a recent study done that showed signification growth in weight by feeding different products to porcillipora and monitorpora. While I don't know how that transfers over to acropora as that wasn't in the study. It made me want to rotate Reef Roids, and Reef Chilli into the mix since it's no big deal to feed something different each time I feed instead of the same thing.

I use coral frenzy, does it help? I have no idea but I do it just because I have a low fish load. I've always heard good things about reef chili so I'll try it with my next bulk reef supply order. It's worth a try for the little it costs.

I feed oyster eggs and urchin eggs. All I can say is that my pink milli hardly extended polyps prior is now having good polyp extension. Maybe coincidence, I shut off my skimmer and don't use filter sock all night during feeding. Too soon to tell if any growth improvement.

Is it just me..... or does this question get asked a lot! Seems that way, especially in the last few days.

As for me? Fish poop, good flow and lighting and my SPS look great!

Other than fish poop I feed oysterfeast, cyclops, and fuel. To tell you the truth my corals eat this occasionally, but everynight they feed off of my pod population that comes out at night. It looks like it's freaking snowing at night in my tank. I get massive polyp extension from my sps and lps corals. They love it.

I have been feeding a combination of oysterfeast, the Reef Nutrition live phytoplankton, and the arctic pods. Do it 4 or 5 times per week and a total volume of 2 teaspoons (stuff is fairly concentrated, but my bioload is light to medium) in a 120g tank. Not sure if they are growing faster, but all my lps and sps show full polyp extention, and a fair amount of growth in the 2 months I have had them.

I used to feed coral smoothie and I have not noticed a difference when I stopped using it. I am having good growth with fish poop and pee.

I have lowered it down from what I used to feed, now I just use Roti Feast, Oyster Feast, Phyto Plankton, Photo Plankton, Zoo Plankton, and frozen cyclops.

R.N. Oyster Feast/ R.N Rotti Feast/R.N. Live Phyto Feast/Freeze dried Cyclo-Peeze/R.N. Artic Pods 2 tsp each in a 120 moderate stocked SPS system a couple times a week.

Great polyp exstension and color I only have A Radiant wrasse/Mc Coskers wrasse/Pair of clowns/Solor Wrasse and a Purple tang
