SPS keeper, so what SALT is in ur tank???

I too have tried a bit of everything and always find that Instant Ocean is just fine (and cheaper in the majority of cases, as well).

RichConley-I keep my mag high and I do not need to suppliment mag with this mix. My tank is small and I change 5 gallons a week, the expense is insignificant. Current stats are cal 430/mag 1480/alk 8 and all I do is add the cal portion of b-ionic to my fresh rodi top-off water in my auto-top-off to keep it consistant. No doseing, no reacters, no headache. I just fill my auto-topoff once a week and do a waterchange to maintain levels.

Right, I do the same, and run about the same parameters...

except I use TM regular, and add a couple teaspoons of magflake while I'm mixing, and a teaspoon of calcium hydroxide. Same results, $30 less a bucket.

$30 less a bucket.

no doubting but where (non whole-sale) do you buy TM for $30 a bucket? TmPro is only $60 a bucket or so, where is normal TM only $30? Also one bucket lasts me almost a year, it is costing me a little more than $2 a month to not have to suppliment anything ($1 at the prices I see regular TM for, $40-45)? One hours worth of work would pay for this expense for a very long time. How much time would it take me (physically) to purchase dow-flake and cal, and pick it up, and keep both on hand (store) and dose. I know it seems trivial but this is basic cost-benefit, with a larger tank I 100% agre with you, and I recommend exactly what you said to most people with larger systems.

:D

Those prices you guys are mentioning are they from an LFS or online w/o shipping?? I pay nearly $80 at my LFS!!

THIS
is my local shop, I do not have to pay for shipping so this is the cost of my salt. They carry the full TM line, all additives and everything, all at great prices too.

LFS here too
...and on a side note....i've never once, heard of someone stop using TM Pro Reef for any reason other than cost, ever ;)

around here TM is like $55 a bucket, TM Pro is over $80, so yeah, $30 less a bucket.

The only difference in TM and TM Pro is Ca, Mag, and Alk, all of which can be added back in for les then $5 a bucket.

To me, the pro just isnt worth it.

That being said, I dont think I've really seen any difference between that and IO at this point, other than that it irritates my skin less.

Boston. $79.99 is what it was the last place I looked.

At a $10 difference I would probably buy pro, but I just cant justify paying 50% more for something that can be added back in for pennies on the gallon.

Ouch!! At that price I would definatley agree with you  Around here that would get you a bucket of TMPro and a large container of TM BioCalcium. If you ever end up in the Cleveland area we'll get you the hook up on salt:D .

Naw, Boston, which makes me an obnoxious patriots fan.

(atleast you're not a steelers fan, I'd have to throw rocks)

I assume the Lehigh valley is where Lehigh College is (wrestling camp!)

Hawk Mountain....where the Birds have their 6 week preseason camp too!!! :)

.....if i wasn't hooked to TM Pro, i'd like to give Seachem's Reef Salt a try

Yeah, I'm in a little bit of the same situation. I'd like to try some things, but I'm kind of leary of changing salt mixes.
