SPS keeper, so what SALT is in ur tank???

IO at 1.026/53 mv has 380/1200/11 for ca/mag/alk. The reefcrystals are supp. to have more in the ca and mag from what I understood. I use Randy's homemade and give them a bump in the ca/mag levels so I've never bothered to purchase the Reef Crystals and tested it. That doesn't make sense unless your refractometer is way off or you run hyposalinity in comparison to NSW.

Chirocato, I was thinking of doing the same thing with the mix of Oceanic and RC. I use RC and love it but I'm sick of dosing Ca all the time. I was waiting for someone else to try it and give a report!

it sounds like a lot of your guys like TM Pro, and Seachem.. I really am thinking about maybe switching over to TM Pro.. the only thing about TM Pro was that it was a lil bit pricey... I really would like comparisons between TM Pro vs. Seachem if anyone has ever tested the two..

I do believe they call it ocean... instant ocean to be more precise.... great price, and a solid product that has proven the test of time.

....i thought RC was still on the low side for majors? at least that's what i've heard....

Just tested a fresh batch:

Salinity (refractometer) 35ppt
Alkalinity (Salifert) 9.0 dKH
Calcium (Salifert) 430ppm
Magnesium (Salifert) 1250ppm (a hair low but workable, IMO)

LFS here too
...and on a side note....i've never once, heard of someone stop using TM Pro Reef for any reason other than cost, ever ;)

Well now you have :D I went back to kent .( old bucketes before the deal)

I stopped using TMpro because of the actual makeup of the salt it effects my orp majorly and makes it impossible to keep my orp up or even controll it .

TM has even said they have had lots of reports of the same . But no adverse affects.

I'd use that as a second but I print the petsmart online IO price and the stores will price match so I only pay 32 bucks for a 160 gallon bucket. Since I go through a bucket every 4 to 5 weeks it adds up.

I hear ya! I go through a minimum of 2 buckets per month so it does add up. Local prices here are around $80 per bucket. I order mine from the cheapest online vendor I could find, which is Drs. Foster and Smith. They recently removed the extra weight fee on salt so it is pretty cheap now. During the summer (off season) it is also always on sale. Right now it is $34.99 per 160 gallon bucket. You just pay like $10 shipping regardless of how many buckets you order. I usually order 6-8 at a time and try to stock up during the summer while they are on sale.

I am in the process of swapping from IO to TM Pro. IO seems to be very imbalanced on CA and alk when mixed. Years ago, I used regular TM in all my other tanks until I put my 120 together.

....strange, because i run ozojne and use TM Pro Reef and have no problem keeping orp around 375(for whatever thats worth).....newly mixed sw has an orp below 250 on all salts, no?

I heard Eric Borneman had a salt test going on.. have you guys heard of what he has come up with as far as results on which salt was better?
