....strange, because i run ozojne and use TM Pro Reef and have no problem keeping orp around 375(for whatever thats worth).....newly mixed sw has an orp below 250 on all salts, no?

Hmmm. funny because there are alot of us in the valley that use it and well all have the same oberservation. How often do you waterchange. If I go weekly my orp won't go higher than 300 and thats after it drops to around 200 after a change . This problem only arose when I myself switched and other local . After a few emails TM said that even with the numerous reports of orp being affected it still hadn't caused problems and they really didn't recommend ozone while using their salt. In another email I was told to add iodine . I did and it came up and was able to get it up to normal which is 375-425 but again with the next change it went back down to 200.

I know waterchanges drop orp but out of the 7 salts I have used none dropped as hard as TMpro and all allowed my orp to come back into my normal operating range within 12hrs.

Chirocato, I was thinking of doing the same thing with the mix of Oceanic and RC. I use RC and love it but I'm sick of dosing Ca all the time. I was waiting for someone else to try it and give a report!

Salt should be here in a few days. I'll let you know how it comes out.

Well now you have :D I went back to kent .( old bucketes before the deal)

I stopped using TMpro because of the actual makeup of the salt it effects my orp majorly and makes it impossible to keep my orp up or even controll it .

TM has even said they have had lots of reports of the same . But no adverse affects.

?????? I have not heard anything about this...as i'm sure their are TM Pro and ozone users.....

I brought it up in the ozone thread if you wanna look thru its there:D Their were other people but alot did ozone after the switch so they can't share the same experience.
Although everyone local has used the same salt before going tmpro.

Plus I have an email from TM about the numerous reports. Rc is a very small corner of the saltwater world.

Seriously :D Do you think everyone who can call customer service is online ?? ;) I know there are a hundered or so locals in az on board and I know there are way more than that going into our local shops . Most will never make it online . I myself was keeping reefs well before ever getting online to broaden my knowledge further.

what is it that keeps you from being able to raise the orp in TM Pro?

The chemical based salt TM makes . Its unlike any other in composition.

Really thats the only thing I can decipher from their emails back and forth .

Here is a quote from an email "It has been repeatedly reported to us that the use of our salts caused drops of the ORP but no further adverse effects have been reported.

The ORP mainly is used in aquaria to indicate a organic pollution. Since there are no organic substances in our Tropic Marin Sea Salt or PRO-REEF, organics can not be the cause of the drop of ORP.

Obviously the drop of ORP is caused by reduced inorganic salts like for example iodide but it is hard to tell exactly on a complex mixture like synthetic seawater.
"

I have over 12 grand just in equipment on my 180 not including the other 5 tanks ....Does that mean I am a pro . My tanks are beautiful and well taken care of . Am I pro ??

No I don't think I am ;)

so you don't know after two years on here alone where the best deals are for everything? i'm sure by now you do...therefor making you a 'pro' - JMO

*thanks for heads up on this issue :)

Really I wish I knew what caused it ..........When using kent I was able to keep my orp 375-425 @ a max of 12mghr .

Now I run 50mghr and don't get above 300

Not sure if its fixed yet.I thought I had heard about it being okay now but its too hard to know which yellow lettered buckets are bad . But I seem to recall a new thing with batch #'s. We did a large group buy local and one guy still had some left so I got a few buckets.Other than the orp deal the TM pro was decent . I still had to buffer it but I like it except for the o3 issue and I love my o3 so ?? If I don't have the continued problems with my future kent WC's first being tomorrow then I am sticking with kent and I will still dose the TM pro k+ elements which I have noticed some nice color poping from them and a metallic look to my acros .
