SPS / LPS Mixtank - my 130 gal reef!

Beautiful tank and corals Im sure but your pictures seem so saturated or taken under actinic. Do you have any pictures that would represent a more true to life colour or less actinic?

Its really hard to get good pics with any led fixtures. im no photographer but it really throws off a lot of colors and makes everything more bluer than it is

Hi all,
thanks for your feedback! :)

Wel that's nice to hear, because I love butterfly's! I also have a yellow tang and I'm thinking of buying a rostratus in my next tank...
Does he eat all kind of food you give him?

My rostratus loves mysis and artemia. The problem is to get them to frozen food. So let your dealer show you, that he takes frozen food.

Please give your experience with the Radion pro being that you switched from t5's. We all know that the colors from T5 is hard to beat but in your experience does the Radion pro come close as t5's?

My experiences after 4 weeks are really good. SPS like it very much and the colors are more bright. I had to move some SPS because the light focuses more than the diffuse T5 lightening. But all corals do very good and mostly the higher settled once grow very fast. In fact, there are more dark spots than before, so you have to think about, where to settle SPS and LPS.
The programming is very easy and the settings are amazing. Because of the UV LEDs, the Acans look like they are - there is no problem like "red looks orange".

Yes, I prefer to shoot my corals to look a bit like art! It's very hard to get them realistic with LED lightening.

But: Watch the video, this is right out of the camera. No pushed colors and just a bit blue.

Despite the saturated pics and the blue vid i can see that your display is beautiful. Love your aquascaping - it really is worth taking time to get the skeleton of your reef something more than a pile or two of rocks - great work.

Amazing reef. Yes, the colours are saturated, but, the reef is beautiful. Brown corals will always look brown whatever the light; so although the colours are saturated, the colours are there; as evidenced by the video.

Have you noticed that the edges of your tank dont recieve enough light
Do you have any plans of buying a third radion
I only bought one to test it out Im fairly happy with my light but I dont want to risk losing a tort coral that I don't think will do so good under a radion
What are you nitrates like with all those fish
which kit do you use
Yeah the web page s nice but I hate how I had to specify that I wanted it in english everytime I refreshed the page to something else

Hi all,
thanks for your kind words...

Nice tank but what is the mode that u are running the vortech ?

Different. Normally I use the wave mode at 50% or reef crest mode at 60%.
Once or twice a week I use the Nutrient transport mode for some hours at 100%. So the flow takes away detritus from the rocks.

Yes, there's not much light at the edges. I'm thinking of a third radion (but it's lots of money, so...). After 4 weeks I can say, that even SPS at the edges grow. Perhaps, I have to buy another one...

Nitrates are 5-7, Phosphates are around 0,07 measured with NYOS test kits.

Thanks for your hint with the website, I'm trying to change this asap.

Again, thanks a lot guys!

Sebastian

Hi all,
this is my second update on this board. Radions are just amazing and my Acropora Enzmann grows around 1 cm / week ;-)

cheers

I'm jealous of your work, Sebastian. Wonderful corals, color and aquascape! Everything looks happy. Please continue to give us more updates and pictures. :D

Something to strive for. Your tank is stunning. I love the clean lines of the stand and tank. That is the look I'm after with the system I'm building now. Custom Stand? or of the shelf? I want one like it.

Thanks a lot - i will post more update pictures here...

@williwilliams: It's a custom tank made from my dealer - exclusive white gloss finish...

I am rather surprised that you are getting good colour despite the higher than normal phosphate level.

Can you explain what the two products below are:

NYOS Zero 5ml / Day
NYOS Coral Nectar "“ 5 drops daily

Can you also explain if you had lower or higher phosphate levels in this tank and what the effect was?

Many thanks.
