SPS / LPS Mixtank - my 130 gal reef!

I am rather surprised that you are getting good colour despite the higher than normal phosphate level.

Can you explain what the two products below are:

NYOS Zero 5ml / Day
NYOS Coral Nectar – 5 drops daily

Can you also explain if you had lower or higher phosphate levels in this tank and what the effect was?

Well, I know that my tank's got a bit higher nutrient levels. My approach is, not to get nitrate and phosphate too low because I got many LPS like Acanthastrea or Euphyllia. In my experience, low levels don't fit with LPS.

So I'm not trying to push PO4 and NO3 to a minimum (to get the most brilliant colors), but to keep the parameters stable around 0,07...
The SPS colors are good for me like they are at the moment.

I used the NYOS products from the very start of my tank.

NYOS Zero is bacteria food which boosts the population of nitrosoma and nitrobacter bacteria and reduces as an effect NO3 and PO4.

"Nyos CORAL NECTAR is a well-formulated nutrient solution that prevents specifically deficiencies and degeneration or corals and filter-feeders.
Nutrients from planktons and vitamin solutions for hard and soft corals, gorgonias, molluscs, sponges etc.
Prevents specifically deficiencies and degeneration of corals and filter-feeders
Thereby improves colour, growth, and polyp image of corals through nutrition close to nature" (from www.nyos.info)

Hi,
here are some more pictures from my tank, which I made in march.

I'm looking forward to your comments - more infos can be found here!

Your system looks amazing do you think you could export your graph for me so I can try it over my tank?
Many thanks and keep the pictures flowing lol

Any reason why you only run the vortechs at 50% have you found that any higher is not good for the sps? Just curious as I run mine at full on a slightly smaller tank

Yes, because of the noise level.

Ecotech Marine Graphs and Schedules of mine and a friend of mines tank are now available for download here

he's in trouble.Good job.Sebiwinkler, better grab your stuff and run out of the country,if german women are like they are where i live....hahahah!

Hi there,
sorry for not reporting for a long time - that was related one of the first major problems that had with my tank.

About 6 weeks ago I broke the middle pillar at an unsuitable position. I could no longer secure it in position. So I decided to do a complete removal of the live rock in the middle and right part. Also I wanted to remove a big black sponge, which spread over the live rock.

I took the coral from the stones out and brushed it off to clean the stones of the sponge. Then I built the pillar up step by step again.

Here's the disaster picture:

Then my water values went up and down, so I lost some corals partially or completely. A high dose Nyos zero and Bacs had the effect that the parameters went in the normal range after 1-2 weeks.

Today, the tank is back quite good, although some corals have not yet recolored like before. Still, I'm glad for not having the tank completely lost.

The tank today:

I learned, that such a massive intervention in the biology enforce the system very strong and perhaps an attempt of fixing the pillar without total reconstruction would have been better.
Least the sponge is now completely gone.

At the weekend I upgrade one more Radion Pro. Not because of the power (I'm currently at only 65% max), but mainly because of the illumination. And because I think the lamps are so awesome;-)

So far the update

greetings
Sebastian
