It's a little late, but, why dont you look into the zero-edge light stands...I imagine they would look real nice with your pendant

Ok, thanks Diego, now I won't try to hang mine from the ceiling :D

I looked at the Zero Edge Lamp Tree, looks nice but waaaaay overpriced. I bought 8' of 1" aluminum square tubing to try and make my own lamp tree

LOL Sean.. I dont think i could have gone to sleep knowing my light was hanging from that piece of cardboard ceiling i have.. Although my Aqua Medic lights hung perfectly fine.. But im not gonna risk it.

Lamp Tree eh?.. Can you say "Ace!!"??.. Let me give him a buzz..

Well... 8 holes later..Ive tried all the dry wall mollies you can imagine..and no go..

Should i find a stud and hang it from there??..

Are you in a House or apartment? Mount some nice looking L brackets into the wall and hang the light from there. If you're really lucky you can probably get some wall studs, they are normally closer together than ceiling studs.

is there attic space above the tank or another floor(ie second floor)? if attic space its simple, poke holes thru your sheetrock exactly where you want the light to hang. crawl up in ,the attic find those holes. then install braceing between the joist(i used 2x4) secure with screws- then mount the hardware through the holes you made in the sheetrock like this....

if you have a secondfloor above the tank these will work just fine

or you can use a 1x4 painted white to match the ceiling and catch the joist that way...hth

COSEAL,

Thanks :) Those are the ones I used..

Final product. I think i did a pretty good job :)

I need to raise it and cut the excess wires...

looks great! my advice to you is to leave a enough wire to drop the fixture back onto your sticks! makes changing bulbs, cleaning shield,etc... much easier! that wire will fray- so solder, superglue, tape or something to keep it nice =)

Looks great Diego, was it hard to use those toggle locks?
Maybe Ill do that instead of trying to build a light rack out of aluminum...

Sean,

It was pretty easy. Use a screw driver, not a drill..

Just screw them in all the way. Then, slip the cap onto a long screw and just screw them in, and just screw the cap with the wire..and you're done.

Did it make sense?..LOL..lots of screwing..LOL

ClownReef, how come you switch from MH's to T-5's?

Well, aside from heat issues (these guys run cooler)..I can now custom make my light spectrum..i have a lot of different bulb choices..and the fixture itself is preeeetty awesome.. :D
