I finally got one! I'm excited. It's a lil light in color but hoping once it settles in will look as good as the ones here on RC!

Where should I put for placement right now it is in the sand bed under strong flow... I have a 150w ushio 14k de halide. My halide is about a foot from waterline.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

P.s I know its not focused on the ssc, will get better pic from wife later

I have my colony up high but each tank is different

I understand, I was just curious, seen some posts like they like the medium lighting more than high, which conflicted with where I wanna place it. It seems a lil bleached to me so ima leave it low for a while till it gets better color. Can't loose this one lol.

I have mine up high under a 250 watt radium and its being blasted by an mp40. Its very happy with the conditions.

I got mine in the middle under 80% pacific sun tritron led (175 watt)

mine went from light yellow to green with dark red. I think it will be lighter when i put it higher in the tank.

when i bought it:

since one week it started to grow up (instead of just encrusting) and the tips are lighter.

That sure did color up nice! It did that In one week?!

Also, your saying the higher the brighter colors?
If this is the case ima keep mine low.

The first picture is 16 march 2013.

The first picture i could find with the more green coloring was 9th of April. So that would be about 3 weeks.

it's on the right plateau in the middle (little tot he left)

Keep it where it is for a while, I would not raise it up. The 14k Ushio is a pretty good bulb and over a biocube is a lot more light than most realize.

Yeah, both corals in that picture are looking pretty stressed. They were fresh cut and arrived at the LFS only for a hour till I brought them home.
I didn't Plan on moving them till I see no white! Lol,and they color up.

The owner told me that the vendor had them in 10k metal halide. But I believe they were at a good distance. The blue one in the pic has a pretty white side.

Once it settles in I would say a week or so, I would start raising it closer to the top over time as it loves light and medium to high flow. I got mine months ago and it was a tiny frag. It stayed for the most part brownish pink. As of the past few days she's really starting to get deep pink tips and the body is fluorescent green. It's one of my all time favorites. I keep it 8 inches below the water line and I have a radion G1 and its in almost full direct flow. Hardy coral and once settled in it really starts to improve with color and size. I will tray and find some pics and post.

It's pretty happy today, the I pad don't take great pics withe my blue lights....

I have mine located about 1/4 to 1/3 of the distance from the top with lots of flow. I have had it for less than two years. When I got it, it was decently colored up but it has gotten very happy. I have another mini colony from a different source that is a little higher in the tank but does not have the same brightness or vivid coloring or growth.

Happy colony

2nd colony. This picture is top down which tends to make colors pop more than from the front of the tank.
