Stan's 75g Rimless Reef

Looks good Stan
What's up with the egg crate on the bottom? Is thismto hold the rock?
anywhere hiding the wires from the light? Maybe snake in the wall?

Get this tank going already... Otherwise I'm going to have to charge you for the frags I have for you because they grew out to colonies lol

Are you happy with the build quality of the tank? I'm considering that tank as kind of a frag, grow out, with a few fish perhaps as well. Fill that thing up!

Just about 1 year and 1 month later I am happy to announce that since the Mayan's predictions were wrong and my love for reefing has been rekindled -- the tank FINALLY has WATER IN IT!!!

Ok..I didn't say a lot of water, but we are most definitely getting there!

I must without a doubt give a HUMONGOUS shout out to my buddy and soon to be brother-in-law AriMiko43 for rolling up his sleeves and spending a large portion of his Sunday morning/afternoon setting up this tank.
I am beyond stoked about this build!

Today I ordered...

Tunze Osmolator - to handle auto top off for this tank

Apex Lite Controller - handle LEDs, pH/temp monitoring, etc.

WiFi Bridge/Extender - so I can hook up my Apex wirelessly because Im not going to route f a 100 foot cable from the 2nd floor to the basement.

Your welcome buddy. Frags await you for after you cycle that sucker. In September we will have a 300 gallon set up party at my house lol. I will need a few people to get that monster tank on the stand. Then maybe next year we can have a meeting here if everyone is up for a drive to the wilderness of northern NJ. Good luck with the tank.

Just have to reroute the electrical -- waiting for my Aquacontroller Apex Lite to come in as well as the Tunze Osmolator so I can "finalize" the electrical.

Still have to mount the (2) Vortech MP10's.. one of which I need to upgrade to an EcoSmart driver. I have the drive just gotta figure out how to do it; I breifly looked over the manual and I have to pull out a circuit board and exchange it with the new driver.. errr something like that.

Also having a little problem with my Bubble Magus NAC 9 skimmer.. the atman pump's impeller only spins when the inlet "guard" (for lack of a better word) is not installed. When the guard is screwed back on it doesn't allow the impeller to freely spin. I believe I might be missing a ceramic washer that create the proper space for the impeller to spin, although I'm not 100%. I can't seem to find any replacement parts for this made in china pump.. only a whole impeller for $40 or a new pump all together for $120. If it fails.. I was thinking about just upgrading to a bubble blaster pump, as I've heard those are great skimmer pumps.

This is the skimmer I have..

Hi Staaan,
I was wondering how did you cut the light diffuser to size? I have heard of people using a screw driver to pull it through and just break the links, but that would give uneven cuts and just take longer to fix. I even tried using my Dremel one time, but i burned the bits cause of the plastic and high heat.
I just want a way that i could get an even cut and a straight cut and not get plastic all over my cutting bits or have broken eggcrate all over....can you advise to get a good , even cut? Thanks staaan.

PS> great looking tank. I love the rimless look. I was thinking of going with a 57 rimmless. I don't have the space right now, so i am planning out a 10 gallon with Par38 lighting and a mini sump.

the rock work looks really nice very well thought out. I am going to steal the idea of the egg crate on the bottom of the tank. :) sweet idea on that one, and the power strip on the front on the front of the tank makes it easy for plug and play
