Starburst cap

I got my frag of it today. I was able to get it cut into three pieces. I put one at 35% and 50% in the tank. I also threw the last piece in the frag tank. Hopefully, 1 out of 3 locations will thrive. It is the small triangle.

Thanks Tom.That helps knowing your frag looks like the pic.
I'm sorta shocked being a cap and not flourshing under bright light.
Just for the record ,when I received it ,it was fairly bleached out.Initally I wrote it of as part of the stress of shipping & shock of tank transfer.
I placed it on the bottom of my tank 24" down under a 4 bulb t-5 fixture directly under the light, and after 2 months it still didnt show much improvement. So I moved it again to indirect light( my light fixture is 13" wide tank is 18" wide in the center, its a bowfront) and the field color started to come back but the polyps remained very small. Grew irregular and just didnt seem to flourish.

Definately looking to hear any updates in the coming weeks from you guys.I'm becoming convinced of what tnyr5 stated in the thinking its a "on the sand ,under a ledge kinda coral".

Best wishes,

-Steve

Two of the frags of mine were doing really well. I was doing some maintenance yesterday and noticed that a snail most have tipped an acro over onto one of the large ones :(. I still have one large frag ready to sell, but need to wait until the smaller ones are further along before I can list it.

Well Ben when it's ready hold me one. And I still have the other coral you wanted so when ever that's ready just let me no and am there. Thanks

Nice coral in pic

Nice coral in pic

Is it REALLY M capricornis?
Who cares.

IME most Montis calcify quicker with regular additions of limewater.
The lower system pH caused by a Ca reactor isn't really appreciated by Montipora (IME and generally speaking).

Anyone have a frag of this coral. Would love to have it in my tank?

I was at Macna and they had a tank full of it. It was selling for $20 a frag but the colors were all bleached out because of too much light.

The two frags I got with Cardiff are growing slowly. By 2016 I will have frags.

I know this an old thread, but I can't find much info on the internet about the starburst. I bought a frag 2 weeks ago, but the polyps are very small and the color is not that bright when I bought it. My light fixture is 150 watt full spectrum led and I have it set to white 40% , blue 97% , RB 100%. I have placed the frag 13" below the light and with high random flow. Do you think it need another placement ?

Beautiful coral! It's been a little over a year since a couple of you guys received your frags, how are they doing?
Dan

Doing well, relatively slow growth . It's about 2.5 by 3 inches in size now.

I don't know your sytem well enough to make a suggestion. I keep mine under 250 15k halide with vho actinic supplenmtation. It's near the top of the tank. PO4 and NO3 are relatively low( PO4 0.02to 0.04ppm ,NO3 around 0.2ppm)

My tank is 20 gallon with 150 watt full spectrum led and for flow I have a mp10.

Parameters are :

Ph 8
Nitrate 0,1
Phosphate 0.03
Calcium 440
Kh 8,5
Magnesium 1330
Salinity 1.026

Gary it's staring to tier like capricornus do. Don't really know if it's a cap though. looks like one
