Starcki Damsel - Rare or Seasonal?

Seems they had a few. What size where the starckis? And which store was it?

Seaside Tropical fish. If I had to bet money where this fish came from it would be Tonga. Lots of shipments from there lately. After 2 years of searching I finally found a true golden sailfin Blenny.
The damsel was about 2 inches. The colors were nice and not washed out like most of the ones I had seen before. If it was truly something that I really liked I would have gotten it.

Back in Germany and the Netherlands I've seen 1.5" ones which were still females. I don't know why these come in here only large - small ones should make more sense.

Has anyone ever fresh water dip their starcki? I tried twice and they did not make it.
Just wondering if they as a species cannot tolerate fw dips or is it just bad source.

Needless to say, they will be going through formalin dips instead from now on.

Not a starck, but another damsel - didn't make it either.
I think they are just too small to handle the full 10 minutes.

But formalin dips are not a problem. Mine handled it without issues.

yeah, that is what I did also. Great fish. I put them in a 40 breeder and they have each claimed their respected area to sleep and hang out. A few times a day they all sync up and party it seems. Other than that they are typically in their area. All good eaters.

Next time I may not buy three of the same though. I mean in a 40 breeder while great there are a few others with similar calm demeanor in the Chrysiptera family yet with different colors. But even having said that, I'm really glad I pulled the trigger on these.

Do the Azures generally play nice with others then? Even with timid fish, say Dartfish for example?

For my situation I only have a pair of pajama cardinals (pretty peaceful) and a pair of clowns / percula's that are hosting in their RBT's. The Azure's don't really bother any. In fact, it is the clowns that tend to be a bit more pushy/bossy if anyone comes close to their area.

The Azures I added last. Tank has a fair bit of rock with a lot of soft corals and a row of hammers. They all have a hiding spot and I personally don't see any issues. But you know how that goes, take this for what it is worth and your mileage may vary :)

I have a fairy peaceful tank too. Just a pair of clowns, diamond tail flasher wrasse and a golden Blenny, all in a 4ft 60 gallon. I was pretty content but my fishes weren't utilizing even half of the tank. They all just stayed on the left side of the tank. I went with Azures for colors, hardiness, activity and price. Now my flasher wrasse is more active. Not to mention skimmer needed more bioload to function properly

I didn't realize how much their yellow fades as they age. Saw a Starckii at a fish stores display. Looks nothing like what we see for sale. I'm guessing they have had it for a long time.

It's got lyretail type pseudo streamers also....that is probably the great grand daddy of Starcki's....

ETA - or it's had a rough life.

Still a pretty fish. I'm looking at my Azures, which I like, but compared to the Starcki they seem painted.

Tried to get one of him flashing, but he's too fast.

That's a nice one! Looks like the one I got from DD.

Mine is pretty fearless and the only fish that is pretty much always out on the front - even when I work on the tank. Plus they are absolutely coral and invert safe.
I just need to find him a girlfriend so he stops bothering the dottybacks.
