1. I keep my SG @ 1.024 that's bad right (for clams) how would I raise it?
2. What type of clam if I raise my SG
3. Everything else is testing fine (in your area)

Well at least your girlfriend can rectify the situation that may or may not have been caused by a curse that may or may not be passed on to anything she buys...

Well I guess the verdict is still out on what could have messed that clam up, but I'm still thinking it was the whelks. Of course my opinion isn't much when compared to the opinions of the clam experts.

Hopefully you can pinpoint what it was (girlfriend curse) and if it wasn't the fault of Blue Zoo Aquatics (who seemingly still sent you the wrong type of nassarius snails) than their name can be taken off of the clubhouse blacklist.

Did you have two clams or was it just the one?

I used to raise my SG by topping off my water with a super concentrated batch of saltwater instead of RO/DI water.

We made a rule today that she isn't allowed to purchase anything on her own anymore...

We'll see what happens with Blue Zoo... I didn't have time to type the letter tonight, so I'll have to do it tomorrow. I certainly don't want to blacklist anyone.

I also think it was the whelks, just based on the condition of the clam after I moved it to the substrate. It opened up very nicely and seemed quite happy... then BOOM... 24hrs later... gonzo.

We'll see if I go after another clam with the credit money or not, supposably the LFS she bought it from has had a great livestock selection, and has redone the store since the last time I was home... So I may need to make a trip home to check it out.

I just had the one small crocea clam.

Next purchase, as soon as I talk to Blue Zoo and get this situation resolved, will be the Super Tongan Nassarius Snails... no mistaken ID there. The resolution will just dictate where I place my next order, and if it's online it will be more than just snails... I need to spread out that shipping cost

Plus my QT tank has been lonely the past few weeks :(

1.024 - 1.026 is an acceptable range.

1.026 matches natural sea water that's all

actually you are better just to use 1.026 and spread it over a number of top ups so you don't get a big change all at once

Scrubbed up the second powerhead and placed it back in the tank... man a TON of crud came off that one. The vinegar just melted all the vermetid snails and gunk right away... last one is "cooking" as we speak:

you found out how to add pics side by side--how did you do it

oops its just one pic--you must have used photoshop

Powerhead bathtime is over and all back in the tank looking brand new, and the clowns are happy to have their home back. :D

Yeah I haven't had to move it for a while, and usually when I did it was only like .001 or .002 so I never worried much. Anthing larger I would do over several top offs like Capn suggested.

I cheated... I used paint... and pasted them side by side, then uploaded the whole deal like one photo.

thanks I just posted the pic in the Capn's Koralia Thread

Haha... didn't even notice that... need 9 more... hmmm let me go browse.

Although I did Notice Cinta's post about the placement of the Toadstool leather which I was happy to see... I just don't know what the heck I'll do if it gets that large... It'll be like an umbrella over my islands :eek2:

9 more huh? Well have you though about what fish (even if it's way down the line) you might want to add next? What do you think about the longnose butterfly?

this is a good one
In the LFS store one of the stooges er salesguys tried to convince me that the longer the snout on a butterfly fish the less they were able to eat coral polyps and therefore more reef safe
Duh
