No I didn't have any problems when I ordered mine. From what I have gathered Marine Solutions was just not ready for the explosion in popularity of the skimmer.
The shop is basically owned by 2 guys I believe, and it isn't their main job. From the time the skimmer's hit the door, I believe the avg "sell out" time is 24hrs. Then the waiting game starts again. Like you said though, now I doubt you could get one without it being backordered.
I don't know how they could be caught so off-guard though... It's basically an ATI Bubblemaster for less than half the price. A member has done comparisions with the ATI and MSX, and concluded that the MSX outperformed the ATI. It's even become so popular that ATI has taken notice, and will no longer provide replacement pump parts to anyone other than ATI Bubblemaster owners.

Well the BubbleKing and BubbleMaster are two different skimmers, manufactured by two different companies. I agree though. Given the opportunity, I would take a BubbleKing any day.

I honestly don't know where to start to stop a major tank crash---any suggestions from cooler heads would be appreciated
Here's what you can do for now:
Install a filter sock on the drain line going into the sump.
Scrape the glass on all four panels.
Run fresh carbon in a Phosban Reactor. Fill it up with 2 cups of carbon.
Do water changes weekly.
Test water parameters for anything out of range.

Capn, sorry to hear about the crash. I see you have already got advice from the master so I will not worry about commenting on that...
PM me with the name of the place you ordered your skimmer from so that I know to avoid them, though I think I may have an idea of who you are dealing with, even though I've never had a problem with them...

Thanks Marc--you make me feel good about my reefing----I have just read this post now after all afteroon of
scaping and cleaning all sides of the dt
changing the media in carbon and phosban media
doing a water change
and I reduced the flow to very little through the sump with the most of it going through the two refugiums
It this is what you suggested and I did it without reading --then I had a good day:smokin:

oh forgot to add--I also got that new baraccuda ro/di hooked up and cranking out new water

No crash guys----the problem was three sides of the tank covered with green alagae so it reflected green/yellow in the water.
After two hours of scrubbing and turkey basting the rock and substrate the water is pristine looking again.
My wife might be right in saying --you should spend more time on your own tank then helping others on the net---LOL
Another big factor that I have to wait for later to do is that there is a lot of salt creep on the halides and attinics covers. When they cool down I will clean them off.
So far just the acropora and millipora that don't seem to be doing well.

been trying to read up on the white bubble coral i picked up on sunday, was just feeding the tank and saw a good amount of red stringy stuff come out of the middle of it....i found a thread that identified it as coral poop....rofl can someone confirm or tell me i found the wrong thread

I have had several bubble coral---never ever seen them fart more than I have seen them dump

I would be inclinded to believe that is rapid tissue necrosis and or part of the bleaching process when they expell their xanthella algae?

Got the call from Canada Post--receiving the skimmer today

but know I don't need it--after all the modifications I made in my system yesterday the system is crystal clear and functioning quite well on two refugiums and a micro filter sock
Of course I am joking--I know I need it for my big sps and anymore that I might be able to purchase when I get a job

another useful tool like the turkey baster
surgical focepts
these are great for removing green polpys from out growing my zoas. Allows you to pluck them out without any zoo polyps
I spent an hour tidying up my tank yesterday with that--they or I did a good job
