That white cheek is stunning! I think those swallowtails do better in pairs so theres a reason to get more than one :D. The Bellus are one of the nicest IMO. Unless you feel like shelling out a little extra for a Clarion :)

Thanks for the link Scott. The guy at SaltyCritter made a similiar comment about the anthias. He said the females should be purchased at different sizes to lessen the opportunity of conflict???

TJ---I think we need to make up a roster now for clubhouse members--since you are the baseball pro--you could probably do the best job on that
(no rbi's needed)

if they still have that white cheek when i am ready to order i am kinda leaning towards it, do you think it will out grow my tank tho?
You have a 5' tank which opens up your options to more tangs. As far as their growth rate.... I can't really comment. I saw the other day someone posted a 3 yr update picture, and it looked like their Blue Hippo Tang grew from about 1" to 4 or 5" over that time period.

Here's a link for information on them:

http://www.wetwebmedia.com/GoldRimSs.htm

It says they get up to 8" in captivity.

That's give me an idea for a little secret project for the clubhouse :D. I'll need a little help though. Anybody got any close up pics or macros from their tank?

There's a million of mine on here... if you quote one of my posts you should be able to get to my photobucket account, and flip through pictures on there if you would like.

Time is running out before the next split... I need to get cracking on a few ideas I had for the next write up. That way I can have it ready for the first post

Scott, your Copperband Butterfly might like live black worms too.

TJ, the Blue Spotted Jawfish has a dismal survival rate.

Kane, pictures of my tank? If only I had a camera... ;)

what kind of pics capn, the last one i have is of my tank with the new lights

here is a pic before i i added the new k3 and got rid of the canister filter
newpicfts.jpg

fish list:
yellow eyed kole tang 3"
GSM 3"
firefish
algae blenny
mandarin
pajama cardinal
hifin goby "MIA" for over a week again

coral list
frogspawn
toadstool
bubble coral
xenia
1 mushroom
green pagoda cup

tank is 5 months old, 60x18x18 and i have a 29 gallon as a sump with about 15 gallons as a refuge.

have you not joined photobucket yet ==you get a much bigger and clearer picture from there

are you running a protein skimmer
Those are pretty small and docile fish (except for the kole tang) so you should be able to add more fish.

Yeah I have also heard that, another reason that set me off. The LFS has 2 in a while back, I belive both died before they were able to sell them. At $100+ a pop... not an easy write off.

I do like the Black Cap Jawfish though. I've also been meaning to order some Hi-Fin gobies, but missed the opportunity when Live Aquaria had them on sale for $7.99 :eek2:

Hey guys... Do open brain corals split or just keep growing?

I was wondering because I noticed mine has 2 mouths, and folds right in the middle between them.

TJ, I think they do split. I read something a while back I seem to recall. I do a little google for ya'.

Quick question for y'all. What's your thoughts on nanos? I'm thinking of setting one up to keep me going until my bigger tank. But not sure how to go about it right now.

I'm pretty sure they split too. I never had one, but my readings seem to say that they do. (too much in my head at once)

As far as nanos go: Kids love them too!
I personally just go very light on the bio load and they do take care of themselves. Just don't expect much from stock lighting. I have ricordia and christmas tree worms in mine. I will add some mushrooms and maybe a LPS that can be spot fed.
