Starting a 240 Gal Cube Tank

aztbs - how did you clean out your drums? I used some baking soda, and now have them sitting with water and bleach.

I filled them with water and bleach first and let them sit for 2 days. Then I filled them with plain fresh water for a day. Then I rinsed them and filled them with water and baking soda for a day. Then I let them sit in the sun to dry out.

The inside was good, but the drum still smells a bit like dr.pepper. So far no adverse effects. It has been on the tank long enough to top off amost the full 30 gallons.

I will definatly be staying with this thread. I am thinking of starting a tank just like this. Can you take some pics with something next to it, so I can get a hieght comparison? I am trying to decide how high I want my cube to be. Thanks!

Great thread BTW, learning lots already!

SM Fragman - Thanks!
binaryterror - I will have my wife take the standard goofy tank nerd (me) in front of the tank picture.
Zoos - From the pictures I saw of yours it looked good.
I'm debating on painting some of the pvc different colors so I can keep track of whats what. And it would look kinda cool too. :)

Ok here are a couple cheesy pics. I'm 6'3" 200+

Looking great so far- you gotta love Keith's work- it's almost a shame to cover the stand up. Looks like you should have some great random flow with the 2 OM 4ways and now I know who to call if I ever need a loaner pump since you have basically the same ones :D. Glad to hear Tenecor fixed the goof ups and made everything right- that is another reason i went with them- should anything happen down the road it's nice to know they are local. Granted it should have been done right the 1st time but imagine if you had to have it shipped and weren't happy with it- what a pain that would have been and Tenecor does have some great pricing for locals.

I have the same pendants, bulbs and ballasts as well- you'll love um! Just another person to add to the group order for Phoenix bulbs :).

I'm not to far from ya so if you ever need some help let me know. Can't wait to see this project in person.

Bax, sidewinder770, m3ntal - Thanks!

Scott, how is your project coming along? I would love to check out how you did your wood work when you get it finished. I ended up using Mike Reber for the sump, his price was pretty reasonable. Now the waiting game continues...

It's coming :). Still not done with the cabinet work yet- haven't worked on it much in the last 2 weeks. Sooner or later I'll get it done. Glad you were able to find someone to get your sump built- I wish I had the time to build one for ya but I have just been crazy busy lately- as you can see I can't even get my own projects done:D. I'm only about a month behind! Keep the pics coming!

No problem, I'm the same way right now. It will probablly be quite some time before I get to the "wood" part of the tank :)
