Starting a new tank thread....

Fresh battery in the dewalt, a couple pocket holes, some titebond III, and a bunch of coated deck screws got me this today....

I still need to add a few cross braces, and plywood top and bottom, but that should all be done tomorrow... :bounce3:

Well, I was able to get some stuff done this morning before going to work on some side jobs....

A little bit of plywood, some holesaws, two coats of kilz, and 3 coats of exterior white gloss paint later....

Never run around with a holesaw... :lolspin:

Actually, that hole leads into the closet in the new tank room. All my controls and stuff will be in that rooms closet and I didnt want to see any wires or anything once the stand skin is on... I put a piece of 3" pvc in the hole to clean it up some.... It should allow all cords and hoses to go into the closet no problem.

Brought the stand into its final resting place...

I was also able to stop by my buddys shop and get some flat black vinyl for the tank background... It should be on the tank either later tonight or tomorrow..

Other than that there hasnt been too much progress. I should be getting the 40B for the sump in the next few days, and once I get that things will start falling into place. I should have the ATI actually hung up from the ceiling either tonight or tomorrow as well. Once that gets hung up I can find a few friends to drop the tank onto the stand...

Not a chance.... He blew my 180 build out of the water and this ones not even CLOSE to my 180 build. :lolspin:

I got a bucket of reefsalt and my fuge light (Current 2x18 T5HO Nove Extreme) delivered today as well... :bounce3:

Things will go together fast once I get the 40B for the sump.... Tomorrow afternoon after work Im going to be pulling a new line of power over to the closet that will hold all the equipment. While im in the attic Im also going to add framing to support the ATI PM light. They say toggle bolts will hold it, but Ill just feel better with correct framing holding it. :D

i dno.... I think we should start another poll for the longest tank build....except this time I will not be on the list ;)

I better not bring up how long my tank build has been going then.....over a year and still not done completely. But then again does it ever end? hahaha

Everything is looking good so far BadAzz I never thought of using pvc in the to cover the gap between drywall. Great idea to share.

Well, I got a little more done today... sorry this has been DRAGGING on, Ive just had alot of other things come up that are a little higher up on the priority list....

After getting this light and feeling for myself just how heavy it really is I decided to add bracing up in the attic in order to support its weight properly... It took a little while because its in a spot in the attic where the roof is low, so needless to say there were a few times nails ended up into my back while trying to manuver. :mad2:

A couple of 2x6's (had them laying around or I wouldve just used 2xs), and a bunch of 3" deckmate screws later and the light is up. It came out REALLY nice..... The mounts sit flush with the drywall, no washers or anything underneath them to make sure they dont go through the drywall, and most importantly, no worries about coming home to the light being in the tank with 90g of water on the floor.

Almost forgot, the vinyl is on the back pane now as well....
