Starting new 75g

koralia 3 placement

koralia 3 placement

I picked up two k3's. What is the best placement for them? Any suggestions??

i had 2 k3's in my 75 and they seemed ungodly powerful.i had one on the upper right hand side and one in the middle on the left hand side of the tank pointed down at an angle toward the right side corner.i wish you the best of luck with them.

I agree with dan on the fans, I have two 120mm ice cap fans located on each side of my canopy, will be going on two yrs in 2 weeks. I just bought two more last week to add to the top for extra heat exchange. ice cap changed the design they aren't as thick, looks to be the same motor. I also need to see if it outputs the same cfm's, the new ones say up to 102 cfm's I knew the current one's i have are 100 something 102 does sound correct tho.

I don't know if anyone said this yet. You can fix the light bleed in your canopy with a molding from home depot, etc.

I had four koralia 3's in my old 30 x 18 x 21 " 50 gallon, just experiment with them and you should be able to make it work.

It is all up and running and almost ready for fish, corals, etc. I have added an ACjr but I had to send back the dc8 because it wasn't working properly so for now everything is a wiring mess underneath. I currently have a turbo snail and a blue leg hermit in there. There are also a few leather pieces and a mushroom that I threw in just because I some extra and they are very tough.

Here are some updated pics. Some ids of the corals would be great because I can't remember what the one sps and the nem are. The nem doesn't seem to like it in there yet. He was given to me and I kept him in my aquapod until this tank got situated. He opens up but more so at night. Maybe the lighting is too much for him??? I fed it yesterday and it ate fine. Any idea on what kind it it?

New frags from the winter swap PICS and questions

New frags from the winter swap PICS and questions

Here are a few more pics...Yesterday's swap was amazing(first one for me). After seeing some of the stuff yesterday, I think I am going to upgrade my lights soon. I have 6 t12VHO right now and I am told that I should be able to keep anything with them. I was going to switch 4 of the VHO's to T5 (going to keep the VHO actinics). I already have the encaps to do the switch reusing my icecap 660. I saw some of the MH lighting yesterday and I am thinking that may be a good option too. I have plenty of room to fit two MH in my canopy. I guess my question is this...Will 4 t5's with the 2 VHO's be good enough to keep the SPS corals? I am leaning toward the t5's because I already have everything except the bulbs and I am thinking that they will use much less energy. Please give me your opinions.

Enough about that...here are some pics:

4 t5's will be plenty of light, just make sure you get individual reflectors, Icecap sells them on reefgeek website. Sometimes T5 with icecap ballast are too powerful. I had t5 but I switched to Halide because I like the shimmer.

Also, good luck with your new addiction.
