Stay away from Petware house

Lol on klaus . I have waited 3 hours just to talk to him some days. I waited as it was a favor to me i wanted. I cant say too much. I can sit and talk in his store for hours. Once he knows you the conversation just starts to flow and flow and flow and flow. lol.

I will never set foot in PW again.
Egill feel free to go there. But I wont support those who shop there.
sorry just feel that strong about it.

No skin off my back. Don't know why I'd need your support though. I'll shop where I get treated right. Sorry it happened to you. But I can go in there, get helped or asked if I need anything within 5 minutes of walking in and get out or have my questions answered. Mine time is valueable to me and going in a store and having to stand around and wait because the owner is bsing with someone instead of waiting on customers is not kosher with me. Everyone has there preference or a place they feel comfortable going to.

But I did notice at PW they took down the sign about your guys club discount, probably over this incident.

I don't go in the Maple/Stell pet store anymore. Tanks were in terrible condition last time I was there so I gave up on them ;)

Have to agree with you there. I'll go in and buy product but not livestock there since I live about a mile away. Kinda sad to see the shape some/most of their tanks are in. Had some of the neon greenest slime at the bottom of the tanks.

Well, good luck to you in your reefing. Its cool with me. Not sure why anyone would need my support really. What do I know.

And as far as PW discount it was a joke anyways. It was a punch card that after you spent $150 you got $10 off. I threw my card away long before this ever happend.

It is becoming quite evident that my strong feeling about PW might not be the best for the club.

Maybe it would just be in my and everyone interest to just step back. all in all it is phils club. I just raise money and hold raffles to fund the club.

Just posting here. I'm not a member of the club. Not trying to insult you by any means. I understand where you are coming from on your experience. I'm sure it will hurt them in the long run not having you as a customer.

ITs all good. Good luck to you. A lot of helpful well experienced reefers here local. If you ever need anything I am sure their is someone around that can help.

I have known Klaus since the days in the hood on East State. If fact, I was his very first customer. At the time, I was a kid and bought my first 30 gal freshwater set-up from him. Klaus' business model has worked very well for him and I agree with it. I work in a face paced call center where you are expected to sell to every customer. I do it, but I hate it when it comes to my personal life. I prefer to walk into a retail store where you don't get hit right away. For those of you that remember the Sea Dwellers up on Lima Rd. Every time I walked in their, I was followed around by someone saying can I wrap that one up for you or that's something you gotta have. Leave me the f--- alone. When I'm ready, I'll let you know.

There were times that I have waited for Klaus and yes it drove me nuts. But, most of the time he's trying to help out an individual new to the hobby. I was once there and have to remember that. I can't tell you how much knowledge I have gained from the three hour conversations we have had after he has closed the store. That knowledge has allowed me to pass by many of the costly mistakes that happens to so many of us. Patience now helps with costly mistakes later.

If you need something, speak up. If a customer needs something and he's just talking about whatever, I know he will stop and be more than happy to help you out.

I must say that this thread has shed new light on who and why I want to extol my business to. I have been in PW many times and dropped my fair share of dollars in their store. Yes I have been waited on promptly but the information that I have gotten is sometimes not the best. I actually overheard a sales employee tell someone that they could just add salt directly to their tank.....I sadly shook my head ....not great advice. His prices are usually twice the price of Premium Aquatics so much so that I think he may buy his supplies there and then mark them up for sale. It would have to be a dire emergency for me to purchase something from there. Out of priniciple alone I will not shop somewhere where the owner threatens a patron regardless this is inexcusable. Jesse, I know you and I know PW and sorry but I would throw my support behind you willingly.

Klaus can be frustrating if you are in a hurry, and anyone who frequents his store knows this and makes accomodations as he is one of the best in the business locally. Knowing this don't go into his store in a big hurry and expect to get in and out in a flash as this may not always be possible. Also, make yourself known, some people are browsers and if you really want something you need to ask for help.

Jesse, you are an integral part of our club. Don't sell yourself short in the importance of what you do. Egill you are welcome to join our club we are eager for new members and you have knowledge to share. We respect everyone's opinion.

Well said Lorna.

I have found Petwarehouse prices to be the highest around. Not only are their prices high, but I have always found their livestock, especially their corals, to be subpar. I agree that prompt service is definitely part of good customer service, but it's not the only part. Another very important compontent of quality customer service is good advice. I would much rather wait for help from a person that knows what they are they are talking about then have someone come straight over and provide nothing but wrong advice. I have seen this happening again and again at PW. I would go as far as to say that 80% of the advice they give is either simply wrong.

My money is just as valuable as my time. Slow down and reap the benefits of life man. It's been awhile since I have been in PW but I'm sure they still give flatworms out with your purchase free of charge. There price's and customer service are a joke aswell. But if your pressed for time, do what you gotta do.
I agree with Klaus's tactic. He doesnt just take your money and kick you out the door like a greedy ***** would. He actually talks to you and understands what type of advice of his is appreciated when you ask for it. He doesn't try to cram any BS down your throat. He doesnt even try to talk you into buying something. You have to do that on your own. Thats why I love to go in there because he creates a more comfortable atmosphere.
Since you feel your are a saleman Egill, I'm sure you feel its his job to pursue you and work for it. He doesnt work that way. Even if he is the only person in there. With wrong with a person just speaking up? Thats all it takes.

I am in sales and I'm very good at my job. It is my job to work for the customer. I acknowledge them to the point they know I am there to help them when they are ready to make a purchase or need questions answered. I feel you shouldn't have to ask for help when you are the one with the money. I've been snubbed at least 3-4 times at Coral Reef. Had questions and money to buy stuff there but after standing and looking around for 5 minutes waiting for him to get done BSing (yes BSing, was not helping a customer, usually complaining about politics or healthcare) and not even getting acknowledeged I left. His lose not mine. Went to ask the older man that walks around something and he walked away from me like I wasnt even there. If I were given the time of day there then yes I'd probably get what I needed but I don't feel I should have to interrupt a conversation to get helped.

well to be honest I wasnt being told to get the F out of the store. I have a good idea who you are now and you are a big PW supporter. To each there own. if it wasnt for the issue with mike I am sure everything would still be good. I am sure I have spent as much as any other club member at their store. I would buy items weekly. I wont get treated like that. And you dodnt really know me so please dont press judgment on something you know nothing about.
