I am going to change my lighting configuration a bit. Since the 3 x 400w doing a great job covering the tank. I will take off all my ATI power module and replace it with Retro fit 2 bulbs instead of 4. I don't need to light up that 1" thick euro brace with my 2 ATI bulbs :D

How about sell all reflector and get 2x xr6 4 foot, extra acls and moon light.?
Wanna see the acls in real

You put the aquatronica controller on this tank too?

No sir, i am running the ACJr. The Aquatronica still in Germany somewhere :D

hey steve - so are you going to forgo "live" rock entirely? i'm about to bleach some rock i've had for a couple years because it has that red turf algae that i can't stand (and i've seen it wipe out SPS before!). such a tough call...

Tony, all my rock are dry rock. It used to be live but i took them out and bleach them all for a week then sit in RODI water for months before i start to cure them...

How much bleach did you soak em in, Steve? Im in that same position right now. Gonna kill em, get em pure, and use em in about 8 months.

I use about 2 cups in 40g container. Once you soak them, make sure you let it sit in the sun for couple day for the bleach to evap...

Yeah, definitely. Ive been soaking these rocks for a little while now, and they just arent getting white. I will resort to the bleach tomorrow. Thanks for the tip/experience with that.

For me that is a first bleaching rocks. Instead calling live or dead rocks (Bleach Rocks). I like that method. Maybe you can add that to tip thread, lot of reefers like to know more on that.

Elijaher, i learn the bleaching method from Marco Rock. All my rock turned nice and white without any living creature inside. You'll be amazy how much stuff coming out of the rock. I try to dip the rock in fresh RODI water before but nothing coming out till have stick it in bleach. IMO, it is best to start with bleach then RODI then slowly seed the rock with clean live rock....

Not necessarily lifeless rocks, I mean they are, but thats not the goal. The goal of mine is CLEAN rocks. Ive had the rocks in various tanks throughout years. That means they have been through the bad high phosphates (Thanks coralife superskimmer and crappy octopus 250 pro), flat worms, and aptasia. This is more to give me a fresh start with no pests or phosphates.

I've had the same rock for a very very long time. Probably 8 to 9 years, with some of it being newer as I've acquired it over the years. My system had PO4 of 3.0 ppm in the past (yes, that high), but with various processes I've been able to get those numbers where they needed to be. It took time. I guess I just didn't want to kill off the beneficial stuff, which has worked out in my reef's favor.

The newest rock I've gotten is probably 4 years ago though. ;)
