Steve's 480g upgrade 730g total Zeovit system

if you bleach your rocks you will probably never have rock that looks like this.

this rock, like Marcs has been in captivity for about ten years.

there are many other critters living in the rock that add to the diversity and food sources in your tank.

Whos to say you will never have rock like that? I have a buddy with live rock that looks terrific. I'll be buying about 20-40 lbs to see the beautiful white, bleached rock. To each their own, you guys are definitely old school, and have a whole lot of wisdom. I would definitely like to keep live rock if I didnt have any pests like flatworms and aptasia. Ive cooked my rocks for 6 months before until phosphates and nitrates were down to 0. I just want a clean slate wit the new tank.

Steve, sorry to hijack this thread... IIRC it is sunday, and you were supposed to have fish today ;)

No worry Joe as long as you are not changing the name on the thread i am cool. One thing i would like to say is that i am not regret to bleach my rock.
Carl, your rock look nice but i want to make sure my rock is pure and clean..

Marc, i am just being a secure freak... lol

I totally understand what you mean Steve, but I guess I tend to favor a more "natural" yet risky environment.

Jon, in nature there are things that will eat stuff from the rock to keep them clean. I am not sure we will have it in our own system therefore i rather manually remove it myself :D

Where's your fish at Steve? Did they arrive?

Good question Mark,

They decided to hold off the shipment until Wed because they want to give the fish enough time to acclimate before they ship them out.

I added 2 baby Vlamingi tang and 1 Scoli on Saturday night. So far i have not see any stress from either the fish or coral. I hope they will continue doing well.

Thank you Ed. I really like the scoly. I will collect a few more as well as the Aussie Scoly. All the fish seem to be happy with the flow. I just add the 4 Dejardini and the chromis today but they already eat and swimming around. I change my flow pattern to Interval. Two pump on opposite end running at the same time pulsing between 30% - 100% for 1.50 sec for 1 min then rotate. This way it will create a circular motion and sweep thing around. BTW, tunze 7096 is a great toy...
