its probaly for your wires. Say you have tunzes in the tank you would run the wires through them to keep it neater

Major PROPS Jar*Head! I can't imagine what it's going to be like when up and running. I thought your last setup was pretty nuts too!

I'm guessing the holes are for the returns.

Just Curios, Where did you get the idea for the ext wavebox or did you just wake up at 3am with a light bulb floating around your head :)

Kar, i start thinking about external wavebox when i first bough one for my 150g. My wife said " that black box such an eyesore". So i start to figure out the way to come up with something that will generate wave at the same time it doesn't look too bulky. But all the tank i have own before was glass "Nothing much i can do there" till i decide to go large with the 480g and seen all the ext overflow box look so nice and that is where i get my idea :D. Kinda boring but it work :D

Hey Steve or anyone that knows,

What are these holes for?

overflowandwavebox2.jpg

Sean, that is 1" hole for the bulkhead. I bet you wondering what the heck the bulkhead doing there right :D.

I am not going to use Tunze magnet holder for my tunze stream. I will use the wavy sea tunze holder. I will plumb the wavy sea tunze holder into a bulkhead via 1" sch.80 pvc and a coupling. I will cut part of the PVC open to run the tunze wire inside so there will be no wire hanging inside the tank. The tunze should look like this except the wavy sea unit and the Tee. BTW, the color will be gray instead of white :D

Why do i want to use that instead of the magnet holder?

first i don't want to scratch my tank. Second, i think it look clean that way. Third, i have control of the flow direction. I can adjust it up/down, left/right... What do you think?

I am sorry if my broken english drive you crazy :D

Do you have any pics straight down into your overflow?

Sean, i can take one if you like :D

Awesome build Jarhead!! I just love the clean implementation of waveboxes like that. So cool to see it in motion too.

I'm surprised you were ballsy enough to load the sucker up on your concrete garage floor. And here I was stressing about 1/16" bowing in the plywood shelves for my 50G acrylic tanks

I saw somebody mention 'nice stand' a few pages back, and then I proceeded to look through the entire thread and didn't see any stand pics. Did I miss something?

Love the tunzes on the wavysea holders. I think it will look great with dark grey pvc.

also I never noticed bad english from you :)

Ryan, im still working on my stand and float canopy. The stand will be build out of 3x3 square tubing with 3/16" wall thickness. I have to build the stand in two layers. The bottom layer will be 96x48x14 and the top layer will be 96x48x28, the total height is 42" tall. I will use 1/2" bold to connect the two stand together (Hope that will work). I will find someone in Colorado to do the wood skin for the stand (Wish me luck). Since this is my dream tank and the last tank, i will make the best out of it.

Hey Steve, I like your idea on how you will hold the Tunzes. Great idea! :)

Terry, you make me feel special

Steve, don't scare me like that. Your wife's supposed to make you feel *special* lol ;)

But seriously, I really like the ideas you've come up with on your new build. From the external waveboxes to the Tunze holder and how you will hide the wires, etc! i still think you should do your tank as a room divider. That would just top it off!

Go get your wifey another LV just before you ask her if it will look nice as a room divider :D Or, you can have the movers put the stand/tank there *by accident* :)

Man, I have been on hiatus for 2 years...tank running but nothing else...no research etc.
That wavysea adapter is cool.

I have a lot of sea swirl I may try that with one of my streams.

And if you would I'd love a pic of the inside of the overflow where your return is.

Will get you the picture tomorrow...

I like the Tunze holders. Im going to copy that idea for my tank. Im looking forward to seeing how you route the wires up the pvc. thru the bulkhead.

Have you tried to mount them in the holes you have drilled in the corners??? The holes look close to the corners in the pics, I am curious how much adjustment you will actually have.

46, i don't have much room for adjustment but if i add couple elbow, i will have plenty of room for adjustment...

Thank you Dave.
