That sounds great, $500 for the elbows, and how much for the rest?

oh, that is included everything :D

UV's are great at breaking down long molecules by ionization...making them lighter.
If you feed the ouptut of the UV to your skimmer you get better skimming.

They also help to clarify the water and reduce the yellow tint.

There are other uses for UV's like parasite control etc...but that doesn't come into play in this type of setup.

hth,
Sean

sorry for the newbie question...

so does UV interfere with bacterial systems like Zeo or Polyp Labs?

Tony, the word Zeo will not be available in my book till my baby getting older and i get a little more free time. I use Zeovit for couple years in the past, i am very happy with the result but with the wife and new baby, i will have no time to do anything.

sounds like similar benefits to Ozone, but sounds like without the potential hazard.

so UV doesn't affect bacterial populations? curious if Zeo folks run UV... (I run polyp labs which is a very simple system that has kept my nitrates and phosphates down in my BB tank really well so far...)

i think our posts crossed... i know you aren't running zeo to start... just curious if i should consider it for my tank... ;-)

Tony, if you have the time. I highly recommend Zeovit.

Thanks dudester! Makes sense.

I'm having great luck with Polyp Labs...

Not sure I have the time to come up to speed on Zeovit right now.

(I have a baby coming too! ;-)

Tony, if you have everything dialed in properly, you should not have any problem running Zeovit. I chose not to run Zeovit because not only the baby i have to taking care of. The bigger baby also need attention just like the little one :D

Just seems like so much to learn with Zeo... I'll do it someday. First I wanna grow some big corals in my new tank using the methods I know...

Andy, good try but you are wrong . I am not going to use the wavysea unit because it can't handle my 6301. I was going to use the tunze holder that made by wavesea but i change my mind due to the fact my stream come with the swevel arm permanently glued into the motor block. I will hard pump my stream with sch. 80 3/4" pipe, end cap, and 3/8" plastic screw.

Nice progress!Looks like this is going to be
a top notch system.I just checked out the wave
action video  insane!! So are you moving out
of Cali? I'd like to check out your system one day..

Good call Steve. I'm seriously thinking of scrapping the wavysea idea.

Wavysea isn't too bad as long as you don't ABUSE it :D. I don't think pushing couple thousand gallons per hour through 1" tube is a good idea.

I have deal with Jay Kim in the past... You may need Danskim help to translate....

woot woot, the hole saws, 3/8" plastic screw/nuts and taps set arrived yesterday along with Tunze salt. I will mix the 50g this weekend and test for the parameter... Stay tune for the update on tunze mounting and new salt result :D

Good news, i found an local acrylic place that will custom made the tunze holder for my 6301. I will have him made the holder out of 3/8" thick acrylic instead of 1/4" and use 3/4" cast acrylic solid rod for mounting. I was going to use the wavysea tunze holder but it doesn't seem to be able to handle the larger pump like mine. I will keep you all update on the new toy :D
