I am still having problems trying to update my APEX. I try to update and it just tries to connect for hours. I am putting everything correct it does go into boot mode but it just wont update.

Also another weird issue I am still having is whenever I try to update my APEX IP changes to my main PC IP 68......... then it will not go back until i reset my apex then it goes back to 192.168.1.13. Can anyone please help with my update!

Here is my old thread and nothing has changed please help I do want to update my APEX!!!!

I don't think there's any more advice than what you've already received in the previous thread. You've got something weird with your network with getting that public IP assigned. You should email Neptune support if you haven't already - support@neptunesys.com .

What router are you using? Any other network equipment besides the cable modem? How is everything connected (PC, apex, router, other gear) together?

Long shot, but are you using a wireless bridge in your house? A friend had a somewhat similar problem and once he got rid of the bridge, everything worked like a champ.

Maybe try cutting your network out of the equation entirely? Go straight from your Apex to a PC. Details are in the unofficial user's guide.

Still dosnt work with main pc i am going to try with laptop now.

Like Michael suggested. If you have not tried it yet, eliminate your network from the equation. If you have a hub or a switch, set a static IP up on both your PC and your controller. Remove the PC from your home network and plug it into a switch that is not connected to the network. Do the same with the controller and see if that works. My guess is as was said above, something with your router is causing the problem.

Thats what I did... Thats why it days "still dosnt work"

and I am posting from laptop now with no connection strait to apex still no work i get this problem with laptop.

Are you entering a port number in the IP Address field of the Loader? If so, don't. Just the Apex's IP address, no http, no port.

Do you have antivirus software on your system? Try disabling it. My Kapersky causes a timeout issue when I try to update my iPhone and needs to be disabled in order to update it. I would also take a look at your mircrosoft (Assuming your running windows) security settings as well. If you are running Windows defender disable it. Also, if you have Microsoft firewall enabled, try disabling it too.

Yup tried this :o also lol I just do not understand. Is it possible to have got an Apex unit that just cant be updated? Lol

I had a bunch of issues with my Apex and my network too. Make sure that you router provides a static IP to your Apex and that DHCP turned off on the Apex. If all of that is done, try restarting the network from the Apex itself.

Figured it out!!!! And whats very weird is I had online access to my apex from out of town so I would have never had guessed. To begin with my father is a electrician and had extra CAT5 cable with RJ45 connectors. So I used that. Me myself I learned how to make my own cables long ago.

Anyways He made it so I thought nothing of it because it worked for the net! So today I decided to test the cable for some odd reason, and he ended up CROSSING OVER ONE WIRE! So I remade my own cable today 30feet long and bam! 3 effing seconds to update!

So in conclusion for anyone else! If everything is working your net everything! and your APEX won't update take a look at your cable "if homemade" maybe if not. But that was my problem! My router or net was NEVER the problem!

Glad to hear it. Out of curiosity - what strands were crossed?

Having made hundreds of CATx cables myself, I still always test them every time 'cause I still do occasionally screw one up. ;)

if you look at the RJ45 with the clip part facing down the gold connections facing up it goes 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8

Well one side it was Blue,Blue,Green,Green,Orange,Orange,Brown,Brown on apex side it was

Blue,Blue,Green,Green,Brown,Orange,Brown,Orange.

I do not know how it was working to get internet through. Everything was working I never tried to update before because it came with newest firmware I updated to 4.05 and those to wires would not let me update. Made new cable and worked just fine!
