Stocking List

Hey all. I have been a long time lurker, though just created an account a little bit ago.

I just set up a 300 gallon. (previous tank was a 180) and as it is cycling, I am starting to put my fish list together.


tank info: 300 gallon. 80 gallon sump. s-300 skimmer. 4 x rw15. 260lbs macro rock. 10lbs live rock. 240lbs aragonite sand
- I have not purchased lights yet but planning on halides/t5 combo.
- Plan is SPS dominant with MAYBE some zoas. no lps.

All this fish on my list I have had previous experience with and are familiar with their care requirements. I would like ya'lls input on this list, and I would like to hear your stocking suggestions.

x6 Dispar Anthias (pseudantias dispar)
x1 Labout's Wrasse (cirrhilabrus laboutei)
x3 Golden Rhomboid 1m2f (cirrhilabrus rhomboidalis)
X2 Golden Angel - my favorite fish (centropyge aurantia)
x1 Lieutenant Tang (acanthurus tennenti)
x1 Achilles Tang (acanthurus achilles)

the MAYBE list:
x1 Goldflake Angel (apolemichthys xanthopunctatus)


Any suggestions? Any changes? :rollface:

IMO, I believe you can add more fish to that list, like some reef-safe wrasses, small hawkfish

I would like to add a lineatus wrasse, but figured the similar pattern of the rhomboids could cause some aggression issues.

Chrysurus angel maybe. Your tank is a tad small Imo, but it should be fine.

It will most likely eat zoas though, but Imo I'd choose the angel over zoas.

I'd add some more anthias to make it 10.

If you're not getting shrimp, get a Longnose hawkfish.

Springer damsels also add some nice activity.

I like the chrysurus, I will add this one to my "Maybe" list.

I would like to add shrimp, so I think hawkfish are out of the question.

Would you suggest doing all dispar or add 4 of a different anthias. I was stuck between dispar and purple queen anthia. Do you think 6 dispar and 4 purple queens would be okay together long term?
