which one is the best/most nutritious one?

I know that at asian markets nori is way cheaper to buy and you'll get like 10x more for the same price of buying at fish store..

But last time i bought nori was for myself (delic snacks) and it was covered in salt.

I'm also thinking that the ones at the fish store are foritified with vitamins/minerals/protein/elements etc

so which should I buy? do the asian market noris have the same nutritional value as LFS bought ones?

I buy the ones from the local supermarket in the sushi section. I'm not sure if there is any difference between the two. Read the ingredients from the two and see if theres a difference.

LFS nori is no better than asian market nori. If anything I would expect asian market nori to be better because it is fit for human consumption. Make sure to get the unroasted. And I don't think your fish would mind it being a little salty considering where they live...

My local Asian market has 100 sheet for $8.50. Tangs are not the only fish that eat it, damsels, chromis, swallowtail angel, perculas, YWG, LMB, wrasse and even pajama cardinals eat them as well. So, I use quite a lot.

Lobster of Justice, why do you say it needs to be unroasted? I've been feeding roasted nori from an Asian market and the fish seem to be doing well with it. I feed it daily and it's eaten by a Tomini Tang, McCosker's Wrasse, Starry Blenny, and Flame Angel.

I use roasted nori as well. No issue with it. My Yellow Belly Hippo Tang doesn't touch nori (surprised), My Magnificent Foxface just destroys nori, and my Australian Harlequin Tuskfish has even been seen eating nori (bigger surprise). The only negative i have discovered so far is that my Foxface that destroys a sheet of nori all by himself has seemed to lost his appetite for green hair algae. He was doing a GREAT job keeping my GHA pruned until he turned into a nori junkie. lol

I get it from the asian market as well.

The roasted nori has been the only one I can find and have used it for years without issue. My tangs devour it.

they are all the same, nori from market or fish store.

info on it :
Porphyra contains significant amounts of protein, vitamins and minerals. The vitamin C content of nori, or prepared Porphyra, is greater than in raw oranges. The vitamin A content is comparable to that spinach, along with fairly high amounts of vitamin B in general. The amount of free and proteinaceous amino acids in nori are roughly similar to that of vegetables. Porphyra also contains a high amount of arginine, a basic amino acid which is generally found in animal protein. In nori, the characteristic taste is a result of the coexistence of relatively large amounts of alanine, glutamic acid and glycine. It also contains an abundant amount of taurine which is know to be effective for liver activity, especially in preventing the occurence of gallstone disease and for controlling blood cholesterol levels. Nori also contain relatively high amounts of essential trace elements, such as zinc, which is essential for certain enzyme functions. Manganese, copper and selenium are present in Porphyra and essential for the metabolic processes of organisms.

Porphyra does have a few medicinal benefits. It contains a sulfated polysaccharide called porphyran, which is a complex galactan. The physiological activity of porphyran in the animal body isn't clear right now, but studies have indicated some excellent health benefits from it. It may inhibit the growth of certain tumors. Also, when nori powder was mixed with a basic diet at 2% concentration and fed to rats, it preventd a purposely induced carcinogenesis. These results may be have been caused by the sulfation of the polysaccharide, which can enhance the effectiveness of it.

Another substance called porphyosin has been isolated from Porphyra. It appears to exhibit anti-ulcer activity in shay ulcers. However, porphyosin was found to be ineffective against stress ulcers.

Add leopard wrasses. Here, the supermarket is a convenient source.

Just keep in mind that not all nori are the same. Some Asian markets also sell a Korean-style nori which has seasoning on it, as well as sesame and/or olive oil. It's tastes great, but I think the plain nori is better for our tanks. Just read the ingredients if you're not sure.

Yep, been using grocery bought nori sheets for 2 years and my tangs and some others suck it right down...no problems at all. It's a heckuva lot less expensive.

Another Asian store Nori user here. Been using it for over 6 years with no issues. Just make sure you get the one witout any extra addatives. Plain old dryed or roasted Nori. My Naso tangs and Pink Tail trigger just devour a whole sheet. Now that My Naso's are gone, my Pink Tail gets a whole sheet to himselve. Even my Moorish Idol would eat it.

Agreed. I almost walked out of my local market with the seasoned stuff. Not sure how harmful if at all it would be to fish.
