250 watt 20 k metal halide (ushio's) and t-5 actinic supplements.

I just picked up a SSC frag that was encrusted today from my local store.....$40 bucks felt like I did we'll , it's about 1 1/2 inches. I can't wait for it to start growing picture does no justice as the ipad can't capture the real colors. They had a fresh delivers piece that came in today the size of a soft ball and let me tell you this coral wild collected is simply amazing.

There are a lot of pictures in this thread and each coral looks different than the other. Except for there being pink somewhere in each one. Though they do all look really nice.

Not the best pic...but here is mine at about 2-years old now. Also, the pic doesn't do it justice in regard to size. This thing is huge....it is about 10" x 10" in size. One of my favorite and most successful colonies in my sps tank.

I have a question, do all SSC have green in them? I just received mine from cultivatedreef.com (thumps up for greg) and it has been in transit for over 48 hrs due to me not being around. So it could lost its green ? i read on greg web site that there is another type of SSC with no green.

There's probably scores of different versions. I've seen a white skinned one and many, many versions of the green ones.

Aussie colonies are still coming in on a regular basis with varing degress of green with dfferent intensity of red or pink. Then there's tank condition variables that can affect the colors.

My frag was completely browned out when I got it, so they can definately lose color.

Ok there is only one SSC that's it only one and to tell you the truth there are a few here that are not. I just don't want to get into debates with people about there prized collections. I will say with out doubt that mine is 100% real and correctly identified.

Is there only one tricolor? One blue tenuis? Strawberry Shortcake has simply become a common term for a very common coral(s) with a common color theme. So tell us, what makes one real and one not?
