stylo you take the :hb2: on impulse shopping, i thought my wife was bad when her response is usually "but it was on sale!" LOL

Lol.

I have a list of fish that we planned to add. The list dates back to December of last year, when we were planning the tank.

So far, the black tang would have been the only deviation. Haven't rules it out yet though ;)

Lol same here, my list is on point with the exception of two canary wrasse , and five chromis. I never liked chromis until I saw their different colors under light.

I will post the fish list later. Need to update it after last week's losses.

For now, here are a few pics of today's additions. I have to say honestly, there still are some good LFS' out there. This one place I buy from every week, they treat me like family! Today was no different.

The picture does it no justice as it is in a shaded spot.

Also picked up a solarensis wrasse.

This morning I pressure washed the new 300-gallon tank, cleaned it out, and redid a bit of plumbing, including installing a PW150 pump I had laying around.

Just called to request a delivery of 300 gallons. Hopefully the plumbing doesn't leak.

Fingers crossed.

Easy to test. Put a hose and fill it half way with tap water. Then let the recirculating pump do the magic. Better find out with tap water than wasting 300 g of saltwater

Water is scheduled and I don't want to have to drain the tank again. Took me a bit to clean and drain it this morning. Worst case, I shut the ball valve and repair the leak.

Smart idea how you did the return plumbing to fill mixing tank or fill whatever you fill on water changes.

Thanks Leroy. Unfortunately I can't take credit for it. DGASMD had it plumed like this. It happened to reach to the tank exactly from where we placed it in the garage. .

Did my first water change today. Worked out great. Did about 50-gallons, took about 20-minutes, including cleaning the skimmer cup.

Here is the fish list as if today.

Achilles tang
Powder blue tang
Mimic tang
Orange stripe tang
Platinum clown
Exquisite wrasse
Midas blenny
Tail-spot blenny
Male lyre-tail anthias
Female lyre-tail anthias (5)
ORA Black cardinal (5)
Yellow watchman goby
Pink margin fairy wrasse
Blue headed fairy wrasse
Solarensis wrasse
Mandarin dragonet

All fish are sharing a 75-gallon QT tank and appear to be healthy. The only one I am concerned with at the moment is the pink margin fairy wrasse. It is eating, but seems thin in comparison to all of the other fish.

any chance of placing the pink margin in a specimen container inside the QT and feeding it separately? One other thing i did with the 5 chromis by accident was as i was seeding my QT with a filter pad from the DT, copepods started appearing in the QT,. I waited until the glass was almost covered with them and then i added the chromis. I did not know they ate copepods but they went nuts the day after i intriduced them and completely decimated the population. no worries as that is what they were there for. once population was decimated (2 days) i medicated. all 5 are happy and healthy fat little piggies.

Thanks for the tip Sonic. With 24 fish in the QT, no copepod stands a chance.

I am now feeding nine different foods, two dry and seven frozen. He eats, just not as voraciously as everyone else.

I'll keep an eye on him, but truthfully it doesn't seem like anyone is bothering him.

Update. PBT and Achilles are not going to work. After a few days of somewhat peaceful cohabitation, today the PBT sliced the Achilles pretty deep on his side. They are now separated by egg crate again.

I am thinking that the addition of three new fairy wrasses set the tang off. I searched high and low, but could not find any recommended action to take with the Achilles. He is still eating and hopefully will recover from the scratch. If he does make it, the PBT will likely be going to a new home with my friend Bmanzie.

If you have any suggestions on how to help the Achilles heal/ live, please let me know.

Damn that sucks, the pbt is one of my favorite fishes and I am still looking for a small one., I think the problem with that many fish of the same species is no place to hide. Can you place a two or three inch pipe in there ? Someone else can chime in on medicating an injured fish.

Agreed, they are beautiful, and this one is plump and healthy. There are a dozen or more PVC pipes of various sizes in the QT.

It just isn't worth the risk long-term. Of the Achilles makes it, he will remain as king of the tank. He is my prize fish.
