Stylo328's 187 (60x30x24) Build Thread

This weeks additions to the DT.

Ice fire echinata
24k zoa
Blue macaw zoa
Armageddon zoa
Chucky's bride zoa

Also , moved the purple tang from QT to DT last night. Ruby-headed wrasse is holding. Achilles is still in QT. He is thick and healthy, but refuses to eat anything but nori. Trying to persuade him to eat frozen is proving to be a real challenge.

Lost the red fin fairy wrasse to an unknown pathogen. I was going to have him autopsied, but he got flushed!

I'm thinking the ruby-headed fairy wrasse may have the same along his side.

Dang, OK here are my two cents, please don't take this the wrong way but ;
1. Stop replacing fish before getting the dt settled.
2. Medicate the Qt.

Not taking it the wrong way at all. That's why I post here, for feedback and advice. Thanks.

I added the purple tang to the DT a few days back and all seems fine with no ick on any fish. Achilles is still in QT.

This week's coral additions.

Wish list items:

I have a pretty good lead on the purple plasma and orange passion; should be getting those within the next two weeks.

Happy for you dude. Tank is coming along great.

Thanks bud. So is yours. I can't wait to see the tank on the stand.

I like it! Very natrual

Thank you. I am trying to place corals, as best I can, consistent with their placement in the ocean. For example, I learned at MACNA that scolymia coral grow vertically on reef walls, that drove the placement of ours.

Did you make those structures or find rocks that size and shape?

The one in the front center is standing on its own, as are the two on the left, which just happened to fit together exactly at that angle. The structure on the right has three CPVC rods helping to hold it together along with the three point method.

awesome build and love your coral selection. all are great choices.

Thanks. I am trying to keep the coralscape reasonable and more manageable. Our last tank, the 180, had somewhere around 400 corals. It was a mess. I found myself giving away frags every week and sometimes just throwing them in the sump to keep the warfare at bay. This tank is at 109 frags as of today. The plan is to limit it to 140.

Tank is looking good. If I was you, I would hold off any further fish additions. You have a very new tank and it needs time for it to settle some. Every time you add fish you are pushing that settling back some. If I was to add any fish now, add a trio of yellow cori wrasse. They love to pick off parasite on corals and are small. Regardless of the type of tang you add later, I would wait a few months. Remember, in a tank only bad chit happens quickly. The rest takes time.........

Keep the water changes regular and consistent. And by all means, get your hands out of the tank!!!!!!
