This may be a silly questions, but don't wrasses like sand to sleep in?

True but it depends on the wrasse. Fairy wrasse and flashers i believe sleep in the rock work. Leopards, the ones in the melanarus family sleep in the sand.

Correct, as do the coris wrasses that DGASMD recommended. Not to say it can't work in bare bottom. I had a coris wrasse and a Christmas wrasse for years in the previous tank. They would wedge themselves under the rock at night to sleep.
I think I am done adding fish though. I considered a juvenile chevron, but think I am going to hold off. I may try to add a few ornamental shrimp. An additional blood and a few skunks if the wrasses permit it.

A few pictures from today. Next week I will take some with the underwater camera. I have been hesitant as I don't know if any sunscreen on the camera or other contaminants will have a detrimental effect on the tank.
And an SPS ID request. This was sold to me as a pink lemonade, but it doesn't look like it. Sorry for the garbage iPhone pic.

Thanks my friend. One of the presenters at MACNA, I forget who, shared that this is how they grow in the ocean. I like how it brings a different look to that area of the tank. Looking for another scoly for the side.

Curious to see how the Ricordia garden does in that area, I have always suspected they like the lateral wall placement the best, seems like all the best Ricordia gardens are generally placed like that. Is that a Blasto mid level almost middle of the tank, it's huge?

That is a blastomussa merletti. It has been with is for almost 12 years. We picked it up as a rescue from an LFS where roughly 75% gone. It has seen numerous setups and tear-downs, two moves and a bunch if different lighting. It is slightly larger than a softball. I am very emotionally attached to that coral. lol
I thought about placing the ricordea directly in the bottom, but since we plan to upgrade in the next two years, figured I'd only place things there that would not attach. I think the rics wound up in a good spot and they seem happy.
Thanks for the fish list complement. We made the list almost a year in advance of the first drop of water. The only deviation from our original list is that we did not replace the mystery wrasse we lost early on.

Awesome build thread! & Beautiful tank! I am working on a 180g for the house & this just makes me want to work faster.

Yesterday was a very eventful reefing day. Took everything out of the 187 and placed all of the fish back into hyposalinity in the 75. It's a long story, but here is the cliff note version. All fish were doing well in the 187 with no further casualties. A few weeks ago I purchased A few fragments from a tank where the fish had ich. I didn't think much of it, but within a week I saw a spot on the purple tang. That one spot became dozens, if not hundreds. The frags may be unrelated and I did dip them all in bayer at 30ml per cup of tank water for 15 minutes.
So we decided to set the 75 back up at 1.010. Had it running for a few days prior to the move. All fish were caught, dipped for 8-10 seconds in RO and then placed into hypo. All of the fish are eating and seem to have made it through the transition well. I added an ammonia alert base to the tank and will have 12 gallons of RO and 200 gallons of salt on standby for water changes.
One positive was that I was able to remove about 50 pounds of live rock from the display, opening up the aquascape even more. I think it turned out better than it was before. May need to address the top right a bit more, but overall we are happy.
Appears the only casualty is the mystic sunset Montipora, it's pretty white. We'll see if it pulls through.

Sorry to hear you had a minor setback, sometimes it's better to try a different angle. Glad to see you dipped the corals but I am not sure if it's related to ich. I normally use coral rx for 15 min while blasting them with a turkey baster, and after the Furan2, Prazipro treatment is done, there is a 3-5 min fresh water dip. Good luck

Should I dip them in RO for 3-5? If so, do you regulate the temp for the RO first?
I've never taken any steps to QT fish. If they ever developed ich, I would just leave them be and let it resolve. This time around I have tried to do this QT thing, but it's been a real challenge. I'm out of my comfort zone.
