Stylo328's 187 (60x30x24) Build Thread

A few notable tank updates.

1: I added a Reefbrite xho royal blue strip to the ATI fixture.

2: Added an MP60 to increase flow.

3: Third Diablo DC10500 pump died - replaced with Jebao back up.

4: Added GEO kalk reactor (gift from a friend).

5: Re-plumbed 300-gallon NSW tank (photo's pending)

I love the tank and it is looking pretty good, in my humble opinion, but I am longing for something larger. I had agreed to purchase a 10' tank from a guy I met on craigslist. The day before I was supposed to pick it up, he sent me a text that had sold the tank to someone else for more than what I had agreed to pay for it. Sadly, I had agreed to pay his asking price! Just goes to show that the word of some is worthless.

My hunt for something larger continues. I will either end up finding or ordering a 10' long peninsula tank, probably 30" wide and 30" deep.

Here are a couple of shots taken with normal lighting - A friend commented that I only post pictures under actinic to make my tank look better than it is.

Those colours look pretty fine to me. I have no use for images that are saturated in blue - too phoney looking.

A few updates.

1. I had a plumber come in and plumb lines through the ceiling, connecting the 300-gallon water tank in the garage to an outlet by the display tank as well as plumbing a drain along side the display to outside of the house. This coupled with the switch installed by the electrician, in the same location, significantly facilitates water changes.

2. Rearranged some of the live rock to make room for additional frags.

3. Added a bubble magus doser to supplement the kalk reactor. Also purchased a calcium reactor (to be installed at a later date.

4. Replaced all bulbs in the ATI fixture.

5. Added a BUNCH of frags. Mostly named, but some just because...

I'm still struggling to keep the alkalinity over 7.0. This week I expect to get the Kalc reactor and Doser finely tuned. I have been testing the alkalinity every day to prevent any drastic swings.

In the next few weeks I will likely purchase an Apex and get the calcium reactor online.
