Substrate choice with closed loop

I am considering a closed loop for my 4'x2'x2' 120g reef, oceans motion 4way with a dart pump.

Is this too much flow for a sugar sized DSB? Crushed coral?

If you are running a closed loop please let me know what you are using for substrate and would you go the same route again.

I prefer not to go bare bottom.

I am running the oolite sugar sized sand for my sand bed with my closed loop. The sand doesnt go anywhere. I have 40 times of a turnover rate in my 90 and the sand is fine.

I hope not because I'm in the process of building a closed loop right now with oceans motion and dart and have a sugar sized DSB. I think it will be ok.
