Successful breeding w/anemone alternatives

I'm currently in the process of trying to chose a host. I have some lps corals that require low light so I must keep them on the sand bed. I would like an anemone but have been reading up and they're clearly a danger to corals which I don't want to get rid of or lose due to a sting. I've read that sps is an option.

What coral have you used as a host that has given you great breeding results? I would like to hear from personal experience.

I don't know if this is the answer you are looking for, but...

Clownfish do not need an anemone host to reproduce. Most professional breeders don't use anemones, or for that matter, any surrogate host.

Yeah when we did it back in the eighties, we never used anemones- always terra cotta pots of appropriate size.

All they need to breed is food and to feel safe. That's about it. If you want alternatives for hosting. A clay pot is good. But other corals like Duncan's, torches, hammers etc is a good idea.

Sounds good to me, anemones are really nice but would like other options if I didn't want to go that route. I just want to be sure that it wasn't required to breed but would like them to host something since I think it looks really cool.

Duncans, torches and hammers sound like good alternatives, thanks Whip316

Maybe if I get into hard core breeding I'll take it retro back to the 80s with clay pots tvrsir and syrinx :spin1:
