Sugar Sand & SPS tank...

Just Reefin'
So I've had our sugar sized sand for over a year now and between our Clowns kicking up sand around the Gigantea, and our Yellow Wrasses dive bombing into the sand there are sand spots that have been cut up (valleys)... The MP40s aren't helping either since they're turned up full blast.

I was thinking of putting a small layer of larger grain sand on the areas that get kicked up the most just to keep the fine stuff down. Is there any logic to this, or is this a bad idea?

If you can live with the different types of sand in your tank go for it. No harm at all will be done , unless you add too much and then You will suffocate the sand layer below. That's. Bad thing

Yea, so bed was supposed to be about 3-5-4" but it's gotten dup up to half that at some places, so I'm going to refill and try to level it as best as I can with the sugar sand then put a small'ish layer of special grade reef sand on top which won't fly around all over the place, and is still suited for even a DSB..

Just wanted to see if people had other opinions or thoughts.
