suggestion for powerhead(s)

Oceanflo.com is probably the least DIY solution, Mjmods.com is in the middle, and just buying parts at Towerhobbies.com is the most DIY.

Prices are like $80/$45/$27 depending on the amount of work you want to do.

I agree with 1sy choice oceanflo mods 2nd choice seio 1500s. unless money is of no concern than I would go tunze 6000 on a controller

Wait for the Tunze nanostreams to hit online, You'll have to wait like 1-2 weeks from today. There are so much smaller and take up so little room and so efficient!

I suggest getting two nanostreams with a multi controller (around $800) Not all nanostreams are controllable, the highlest level is the only one that is controllable.

the closed loop may run dry if you put the intake in the overflow box when the return pump is off and not running (the water level in the tank would be below the strainer of the overflow box at take time).

hm...is this right?

If the return pump is off the pump for the closed loop is off though. They will be on the same "switch" so to speak.

The Tunze nanostreams are no smaller than a properly made maximod. They're also more expensive, and give significantly less flow.

THeyre also less efficient in most cases.

that would work when both are on or off together, like on the same switch. :)

Unless the return pump breaks, then you'll fry your CL pump too.

What could I do then? I would rather not have a big white pvc pipe hanging in the back of the tank. Maybe if it was black...

If you're gonna put a closed loop on, the tank should be drilled.. You'll just have a bulkhead and strainer on the back.

Rumor has it that the maxijet mods are being tested with the Seio controller and is successfully being used, but that more time is necessary to ensure that it does not damage the pump.

I cannot get myself to buy a Seio(Rio).

well schucks...thats a bummer!

Oceanflo apparantly had theirs running on a SEIO controller at Macna, but again, we have no idea what they'll do long term.
