Sump questions

I am upgrading from 75 reef ready to a180. I was wondering if there is anything stoping me from removing the overflows on the 75 capping all the bulkheads except one and using it as a sump.

I want to put PVC from the one bulkhead 6"-8" high in 90 degree and use it as a sump to drain to an external pump.

Any thing wrong with doing this???

Yeah, no problem, just make sure that sump level allows for back siphon room in case of power failure when you baffle it.
I prefer internal returns, but external works too.
