I want a section for skimmer , fuge and return... don't know what size I need for a 240 g sps reef with dead center overflow.. thanks Dean

tank is 48x48x24 and stand is 31" high inside

1/3 display at a minimum; 1/2 better; 1:1 best (if you can fit it).

why would you recommend such a large volume of water for the sump... I think even 80 gallons is not necessary, just asking what is your reasoning behind these volume suggestions? thanks Dean

The larger the sump the more overflow you can handle from the main or auxiliary tanks in case a return pump fails or the power is cut. It also gives you room to add more reactors and pumps in future should the need arise. Some people use the extra room in a large sump for an algal refugium, an algal turf scrubber, a cryptic refugium or a deep sand bed filter.

Once you have the room the only limitation is your imagination.
